Great product and very convenient. Haven’t tested the accuracy claims but I know it reads substantially different that the original Pocket Radar. Holding them right next to each other on same pitch can be 7 mph apart sometimes.
Picks up the majority of pitches and works great for high school baseball.
Very accurate! I took to a College Prospect camp and stood behind all the scouts with their expensive JUGS radars and I was within 1mph with this radar. I like the recall feature too. It comes with a belt clip holster and looks like a cell phone case on your waist. Very indiscriminate. Much better than carrying around a large, bulky radar gun.
My husband loves this for softball. It seems pretty accurate when comparing to a full size radar gun. The size is great for discrete monitoring
My Gamma SpeedTrac X radar recently stopped working so I purchased a Pocket Radar as a replacement for measuring the relative speed of my (and friends) tennis serves. The best way I found for measuring serve speed is to mount it on a tripod just behind the net. Yes, you need to put it on “Constant On” and then after serving, scroll through the memory using the recall button. This is kind of a pain compared to the Gamma SpeedTrac which displays the speed in large red LED, but I often found that it was difficult to read the Gamma red LED in the sunlight.Pros:o Ease of useo Portability (the size of an iPhone)o Technology yields more accurate and consistent readings (vs Gamma)o It worksCons:o On the expensive side (but worth it)o Battery life not greato No Bluetooth connection (to a phone so you can see your speed right away without walking to the net)Conclusion:o Overall, I like this radar device much better than the Gamma for tennis serves
Great little radar gun. Would highly recommend for little league coaches.
I love the ball coach! Tryouts, practices, games, charting a kids velocity year over year. Great tool. Tells me when they are overthrowing, or fatigued too.
Solid. Easy to use.
Easy to use. Reliable and consistent readings.Had the cheaper model for a few years and broke it. The ball coach is more reliable.
I compared it to a traditional expensive radar gun and it showed same speed over half the time and then the other half was only 1-2 mph different.
The Ball Coach is a tremendous product and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s convienence, accuracy and durability make it one of the better things I have bought in regards to…
love it. i know it is a baseball device, but we use it for serving in volleyball.
I have tested this against high-end Juggs…right on. D1 college park installed scoreboard guns….right on. The key is to be directly behind catcher.
The Pocket Radar Ball Coach is an amazing product! The readings are accurate and the size of the unit cannot be beat.
I bought this at the beginning of summer to monitor by son’s velo. He pitches at the D-1 level and he wanted to work on a few things over the summer in his collegiate league.
works perfectly. Same unit used by our local university.
very accurate when directly behind plate.
