Pushing Max Length
Of course RAM mounts are pretty nice nevertheless. It tightens down plenty to prevent any slippage at all, however the sheer length of the armature is enough leverage to make the device mounted give under touch. The main reason I use RAM is for its solid basis, and in this case, this is really the most length you can get from the mount before that starts to fall through. I would say I should have gone for the shorter armature in my configuration. I’d recommend only going for this piece if you actually are sure you need the whole length.
RAM Rocks
This is a very solid product. Exactly 6” as advertised.Vibrates like a #$#%#@#$@ when it is horizontal, which makes mounting on my truck windshield useless. I though the 6” would be good, but it appears it’s too heavy or something. I’m going back to the 4.5” which does not vibrate at all.Aluminum may be stiffer, but I might recommend the composite if mounting parallel to the ground (perpendicular to gravity).
easy connection, easy adjust
puts my phone exactly where I need it on my dashboard. It seems that the next smallest size is 1⁄2 of this, I wouldhave liked something around 4” instead of this, but it works exactly as it is supposed to work, so I’m happy.
A solid mount
I use Ram Mounts to mount my GTech Pro racing computer and now my GoPro camera in my car. Good for what it’s supposed to do
I got this to put an iPad mount hanging from my ceiling in front of my treadmill. I use it in conjunction with a shorter arm and a double ball to join the two. It’s allows me to adjust it to almost any angle so that I can position it exactly where I want it. I then can use the iPad to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc, while I’m running. It takes my mind away from the pain of running. Of course, we all know running on a treadmill is even worse than running outside. Be warned, when using this with an iPad mount, you have to clamp down the ball pretty tight. This is good in that it holds the device securely. It’s bad in that any micro adjustments while running are nearly impossible without first loosening the ball. Of course, I can’t do that while running. All in all, a good buy.

Mount is made of aluminum and the bolt tightening secures the arm very tightly to the mounting points very secure. Using this to attach a GoPro to a motorcycle and there has been no flex in the mounting arm that would be a cause for concern.
RAM is awesome
As I have purchased several components which are used together, I am reviewing them as a group and repeating the review across all. My time with the product is still very short, I can only provide my initial impressions. RAM products are ASTOUNDING! They do tend to be a bit on the higher end of the spectrum for this type of product; however, the old adage “you get what you pay for” definitely holds in this case. The things I love about this group of products:1 - Once the devices are in place and tightened down, they are stable. There is minimal vibration; and, it does not swivel around when putting the phone in the cradle.2 - The X configuration of the cradle grip allows for maximum air flow around the phone. My previous phone suffered overheating damage from being in a cradle in the sun for an extended trip. The RAM components not only allow for more air flow but the long arm brings the unit further into the car, just past the rear-view mirror, minimizing the amount of direct sun exposure during the hottest times of the day.3 - This is the EASIEST cradle I have owned for getting the phone in and out. I have the LG G3 currently.I currently own two sets of this product. One for each vehicle. The LG G3 with a case is a bit of a tight fit in the phone grip cradle. It is not horrible; but, I have to put it in on an angle then straighten it. I have purchased the larger grip version for the second. It is much easier to get the phone in and out. I have not yet seen a down side to the larger vs normal. I will keep you posted……
Solid, useful product, but…
There’s nothing wrong with this item, and it works exactly as advertised. I’m just saying that for only $2 more, the Double Socket Swivel Arm is the same overall length as this arm, but the added swivel makes the arm much more useful, and in more ways.

Needed to get my phone higher then the edge of my fairing on my Harley so I can video when riding and this works perfectly. Quality construction. NOT cheap plastic. I’m impressed
