Durable and we’ll made. Holds my Oregon 650 securely while out on the trail on my ktm. It did not come with the ball or other part shown in my photo.
I have had three Garmin GPS units now. For the first two, I used the mounting system from Garmin. It worked fine, but it required permanent mounting. I wasn’t sure where I’d be permanently mounting my new GPS, so this time I bought the RAM Mount system instead. This one attaches to the windshield of my Jeep using a suction cup.The RAM Mount approach is fantastic! Instead of making a different mount for each type of thing that needs to be mounted, they make the basic mounting unit and then individual holders that attach to each of the mounts. That way, if and when I change my GPS unit in the future, I only have to get the new cradle and attach it to the mount that I already have. It’s not only cheaper in the long run, it means that there are lots of options. I’m never going back to the Garmin mounts.I contacted RAM Mount for some pre-sales assistance, and they were very helpful. It seems like a company with their act together. I really recommend checking them out.
I use this Garmin GPS mount for my Oregon model on a snowmobile. The high impacts that result from vehicle operation was a concern so I wanted a very strong mount. I simply did not want to experience having an expensive GPS unit fly off and then get lost in the snow.Luckily I can say this mount is rock-solid for high-impact applications. It is also surprising solid at all temperatures since I routinely operate down to 15 degrees F and have never had a problem with the plastic failing to flex to accommodate the unit.Engineering grade product!
Was not exactly like the one I had before, had to cut a notch in the side for the power on/off button. Was not a good representation on the web site.
My Garmin Oregon 450t snaps in tightly and isn’t going anywhere in this cradle. Good thick construction and attaches easily to your RAM mount with the included screw fasteners. A nice touch is the little roller at the top that prevents scratching your GPS when installing or removing it. Put the base of your GPS in first, then roll in the top. Smooth!
This cradle is great and one of the best mounts for a Garmin Oregon GPS. My reasons why are: It cradles the entire unit safely and therefore also protects it somewhat. It does not mount the GPS by its garmin “mounting spine” on the back which is Garmins mounting solution but sometimes kind of a weak spot of the Oregon series and known to break at times (My first one broke on teh first day). Lastly, getting the unit in and out of the cradle is super easy and fast while not as finnicky as the mounting spine on the back of the unit used for OEM Garmin mounting solutions. RAM mounts in general are super extra tough and a bit of overkill for some unless you need super tough mounting solutions for off roading or boating.
Perfect fit, feels solid, hopefully the tension when inserting or removing the Oregon 650 will not break or crack this cradle with the usage and sun exposure of the windshield after many years.
I bought the cradle for mounting an Oregon 650 on either of my two bicycles. The cradle holds the GPS very securely and is very easy to use. It was also surprisingly low cost so I bought a second one. I would recommend that the manufacturer add a small hole near the bottom of the cradle so that a lanyard or wire lock could be inconspicuously added to slow down someone who would try to steal the gps.
Fit my Oregon 650T. So it is good to go.
A
Doesn’t hold gps very well on dirt bike. Lost one already. Need to supplement with zip tie or rubber band.
Holds my Garmin 62s firmly in place but can either snap it out of the holder or twist the holder out from the mount on my bikes handle bars.
Great
Does what I needed it to do.
seems to hold GPS OK on bars of a Dual Sport, but could be more secure. You can have it pop out but you gotta ride pretty rough stuff or tip over.
Item as described
Took it through the wilderness and some of the roughest terrain Alaska can through at one. Never failed.
