Great mount, no hardware.
Great mount, works as advertised and all that. However, this mount did not come with mounting hardware! So, I headed down to my local auto supply shop and got a couple of self tapping #8 x3/4” screws ($1.39), slapped a strip of 3M double sided tape (already on hand) on the back of the mount, heated it up a bit with a heat gun and stuck it to my dashboard of my Ram 1500 just left of the central air vent and right of the instrument cluster. The trim is just wide enough to accommodate the mount. Using the two self tapping screws, and the 3M tape, I was able to nicely place the mount, which has enough clearance with the four inch Ram Mount bar to clear the top of the steering wheel with no obstruction of the driver’s view. Of course there are other mounting options which do not include drilling into the dash of your vehicle, but C’est la vie. The mount so far is great and compatible with all other 1” Ram mount bars and accessories.
Great Way to Adapt Non-RAM Products to RAM or Use with RAM Quick Release and/or RAM Suction Cup
I used this RAM Mounts RAM-B-238 2.43” z 1.31” Diamond Base with 1” Ball in two different locations as part of a dash cam installation in my car, which has a long, angled windshield. As I didn’t want to trust the suction cup mount included with the camera, I used a Ram Mount Rail Base with Stainless Steel U-Bolt over the rear mirror stem to begin the installation and then added several components, including a tee assembly that employs a RAM Mount Double Ball Base w/1/4” NPT tee with a Ram Mount 1-Inch Ball with 1⁄4-Inch 20 Male threaded post and a RAM Mounts RAM-B-238 RAM 2.43” x 1.31” Diamond Base (this product) paired with a Ram Mount Light Series Composite Double Socket in order to connect another leg to a RAM Mount Suction Cup Base stuck midway down the windshield for additional stability as it extends nearly the full distance. It’s suspended over the dashboard a couple of inches. There is no “bounce” in the system. It’s rock-solid. I added a Ram Mount EZY-Mount Quick Release Adapter which quick-connects to this product to allow for easy removal after simply unplugging the power cable, which travels over the RAM Mount system to disappear into the headliner over to and inside the side post and finally courses under the dash to the power connection.Like almost all RAM products, this is a quality item. I’ll purchase this and other RAM products again if needed.
Exactly what I was looking for!
One thing a KLR is missing is a way to mount and power items like a GPS - I’m not a fan of handlebar mounts. This product is great quality - good instructions (the only thing to add is keep track of the bolts as you remove the fairings - the bolts aren’t the same size all around). Fits perfectly, I did have to slightly bend it upwards after installing to clear the “real” dash, but that’s to be expected. Definitely go ahead and order the triangle ram mount if you haven’t already, and this does not come with the screws to mount that (neither does the mount itself so you will need to source some). The cables are nicely wrapped to prevent chafing. The second switch is an aux switch not connected to the power ports, so it’s left open for whatever you fancy.. I went ahead and wired it while installing even though I didn’t have anything to connect right now - that way you don’t have to take the bike apart again. Very happy with the product and the quality!

Excellent product. Mounted to the dash of my 2008 FJ Cruiser. This, accompanied with the swivel arm and X Grip hold my 8” tablet very securely when I’m off roading.
No Hardware and Holes are not 1⁄4 inch
I would give this 5 stars except for two things. One is that there is no hardware available for purchase for this mount. I got the universal rail mount hardware from Acadamy for Yak Gear and found that the the bolts are 1⁄4 inch. It looks like all of the “Universal Mounting Hardware” kits come with 1⁄4 inch bolts. Which is the second problem. The holes on the base are not that size. So I had to drill the hole with a quarter inch bit to widen it to accomodate the bolt. In addition the universal hardware bolts are way too long to be used in mounting this base to a accessory rail track on my Kayak. So in addition to that I had to go to Home Depot and pick up shorter bolts and and spacers in order to make this mount to my accessory rail. I find it inexcusable that ram mount would make such a great product and not have the hardware available for purchase. That is like selling a car without the wheels. On top of that the holes are too small for the hardware kits that are sold for mounting onto accessory tracks. Once I was able to get around that the mounts worked great. They are definitely very versatile and allow for a longer range of articulation versus the Scotty Mounts. But you know what? The Scotty Gear Head mount base comes with the hardware built in so it slide right onto the track out of the package. You need to include the hardware for purchase. At the very least make the holes quarter inch so you can work with the universal hardware kits that are sold. Have to widen holes with a drill bit in order to accomodate a pretty standard bolt size is just lame.
Works like it’s supposed too.
Just what the doctor ordered. I have an X mount that I bought for the Harley and liked it so much I wanted to use it in my car. I mounted this me have been very happy with the results. Mind you I had to drill 2 holes so you might want to go another route if you are worried about drilling in your dashboard.
Great ball mount
Great ball mount. Mine actually didn’t have the greyish colored shaft like the picture but it actually looks better without that. Seems like all the plastic wasnt shaved off on the ball but that was easily fixable in 2 seconds with a razor blade.
Goldwing install
Great product for motorcycle. Have 3 on my Goldwing, holds gps, cell, or drink. Also have the RAM mount for clutch and brake installed.
