Product Reviews

Amazing for everything from a video/file server to a router, or game emulator. Perfect and great price!

The new model (RPi 3) is much faster than its predecessors. Indeed, it’s 10x faster than RPi 1, and double the speed of RPi 2. Now with integrated WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 which deliver flexibility in siting the Raspberry Pi, and make it more attractive as a set-top computer, a video server, game emulator, and infinitely more. This thing screams! The performance is amazing on this tiny thing!I am not commenting on the price by this seller. Yes it’s over MSRP, but that’s the price for getting it overnight vs standing in line and not getting one because it’s sold out. This is just a review of the product itself.—The measurements are identical to the Raspberry Pi 2, which is great since all of your accessories will work perfectly. The RPi 3 includes the same 40-pin GPIO header which allows for extensions into the real world. Blinking lights, motors, talking robots, etc. Same CSI and DSI interfaces to enable camera and display modules.Same as RPi 2, it includes an HDMI out to view on a TV or computer monitor. But it can easily be set up as headless (no display). The 802.11a/g/n is provided by the BCM43438 chip, which also provides Bluetooth 4.1 capability.IMPORTANT! Keep in mind to get things running you’ll three things 1) a microSD card (8GB or larger; class 10) 2) a computer to flash the linux operating system into the microSD 3) a USB keyboard+mouse 4) 2amp micro USB power supply.Performance is killer on this thing. Booting is incredibly fast and I can’t wait to overclock this little desert. It runs at 1.2GHz (64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex A53). It boots faster, it runs faster, it responds faster. With the integrated WiFi + Bluetooth, you no longer need a USB hub for all your devices. A bluetooth keyboard/mouse will not take RPi 3’s precious USB ports. You’ll have them open for any peripheral you wish, hard drives, microphones, printers, etc.Good:PriceQuality of buildEasy of use (assuming you’re techie)WiFi + BLE supportMuch faster processingPrice, again!
The wishful thinking
Wish the micro SD card was spring loadedWish it had more on-board LEDs for debugging.

I love it cause

I said before so many projects so little PI. So I had to buy this. I love it cause. BUILT IN WIFI!!!!! I need like 100 more of these bad boys. Dont ask my why. Maybe a Raspberry Pi Skynet

I hope you are able to make them into something cool..

I have about 12 of these… I use them for just about every project I work on. If you know what they are then you know what they do. If you do not well these aren’t for you. There are so many books on the subject of using these tiny computers that you might want to start there. Otherwise BUY BUY BUY BUY!!! I will keep buying these or similar computers based on my needs. I hope you are able to make them into something cool… and if so BLOG ABOUT IT… Give some instructions… I want to make more stuff!

Built a retro pi setup and love it. I would highly recommend thishttps://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0087DAW46/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_55if you set it up with your TV for media or games. Since the Pi will not power off, I don’t like leaving something running that I am not using. I origionally bought a power supply with a switch but the cords are kind of short so I wanted a better power solution. The remote power above works great.

The Raspberry Pi is a great small Linux SBC - but it’s best feature is the amount of information available on the internet. The 3 version is powerful enough that I use it as a workstation for Raspberry Pi development (Geany/C/C++). Also, it is now possible to use it without the Linux OS (much like a conventional microcontroller) using one of the many bare-metal frameworks. Its peripheral availability is excellent and its onboard peripherals are numerous and well supported. The only major peripheral missing is a DAC/ADC.

Buy this and build your dream retrogaming and Kodi machine

I am very inexperienced in building anything with computers, but I decided to forgo the kits and piece together my own Pi. With the help of Google and YouTube I was able to build my Pi exactly the way I wanted and am very happy with the results. I run Retropie Raspbian and Kodi on a triple boot build and can’t be more pleased. I was in the market to buy the mini classic Nintendo to relive some old fun, but wasn’t willing to pay the exorbitant price for minimal use. I wanted to be able to play all the old games and any time I wanted. In addition to this I wanted to get into this Kodi craze and take full advantage of the internet. After some painstaking research I found the solution to all my desires would be a Raspberry Pi. As I said early, I decided to build it myself and it came with it’s challenges, but I did succeed in the end. The onboard Wifi works very well and the processing speed meets all my needs without overheating. I did buy a case with heatsinks, so this may have helped. One thing I would recommend is not buying the preloaded NOOBS micro SD card. It is a waste of money since you can just download NOOBS to your own card.

This has led me into a dangerous new addiction to SBCs… thanks a lot :P

I have wanted a Raspberry Pi since they were first announced, and the “backorder” hell started. I also decided to wait… just to see where it would go. When it got to this level is when I decided to jump onboard.I am currently running Raspbian barebones (just the shell), with MATE desktop on top of that. I am quite pleased with it. For the money I spent on this… I can throw my Wacom tablet on it, run GIMP and go to town. Very few hiccups. Web browsers leave a little to be desired, but for the most part that is not too bad. This has pushed me to the point that I am strongly considering getting the Up board…

With a spare USB cord and an old micro SD card, which you probably already have laying around from when you upgraded the one in some device or another you have about the house, you have a spare, versatile computer. The downside is, due to the low cost, you find yourself wondering what else in your house needs a computer strapped to it.

Great for using OctoPi and OctoPrint for monitoring my 3d printer! I can imagine about 1000 other uses for these 35$ computers, will certainly buy again.

Great Desktop Replacement

This computer is a decent desktop replacement. If you buy this used, you can save a few dollars and get heatsinks free (Little metal bits going over your cpu directing heat away…
