Inexpensive and powerful computer in a small form factor

This kit gave me everything I needed* to set up a pi hole ad killer - a DNS server with a long list of domains that are known to serve advertisements. The result is a much slicker internet experience across all of the devices in my household. Very few ads when I’m browsing pages on my desktop which is easy enough, but this extends to mobile devices too, even in the various apps my girlfriend and I make use of at home. And this is just how I chose to use it. I could easily have loaded up a number of ROMs and Retropie emulator software instead, and have an all digital console with all of the games I love up to around the Nintendo 64.

good kit to get the ball rolling

Good kit to get the basics that you need together. The top of it doesn’t give you a fan option, but that isn’t always needed. It can separate easily though, if you are handling the item often.

Good kit, junk power brick.

First things first, for anyone wondering about the LED: it does work. Red goes to pin 4, black goes to pin 6. Simple as that.As for the product: the case is nice, the heatsinks are a nice touch, the heatsink paste included is a nice touch if you never move the RPi but could allow some slip if it gets moved. The only problem I have, and the reason I’m giving this kit 4 stars, is the power brick. Died on me within a month–got home from a 5 day vacation to find the RPi (which I use as a Pi-hole in the background) making a high pitched whine and not functioning. Replaced the power brick with a spare phone charging brick I had laying around and it works fine again.Pros:- Nice case- LED is a fun touch if you’re in to that kind of thing- Heat sinks help with heating (as they are wont to do) during heavy useCons:- Power brick is junk. Don’t expect it to last at all if you’re using the RPi for an always-on application such as Pi-hole- Heat paste doesn’t provide a positive location for the heat sinks

Great Mini Computer!

The Raspberry Pi is an amazing low-cost computer. Unlike the ever-popular Arduino microcontroller, the Raspberry Pi was designed to be a full-blown computer from the start. It can run various flavors of Linux/Unix, act as a Media Center, and even moonlight as a Microcontroller.

faulty power supply

The Pi is great, the case is great, and the price for the kit was great, but the power supply died after 34 days. Seriously?

Good but could be better

Good kit, but it should really include thermal adhesive/pads instead of grease. The heatsinks will slide around with the included grease. The case is a little cheap too, but I guess I shouldn’t expect much for the price. I wish the top of the case would snap in or somehow stay secured, as currently it just slides in and can fall out if inverted.

Raspberry Pi 3 is the best platform I have ever used

Raspberry Pi 3 is the best platform I have ever used. Faster than the Pi 2. The item can used as PC and can handle a modest amount of computing. Built-in bluetooth and wifi make it more convenient to access to the internet.
