Bought one of these the other day. I’m pretty happy with it so far. Now I can be on my pi without hogging a tv!Since there were no assembly instructions included I headed to Google for a search. I found a youtube video explaining how to connect everything. Very simple assembly indeed. I thought that was all I had to do but I was wrong. I powered it on but alas, no display. Further Google research led me to a couple of very important steps that I’m sure most of the bad reviewers are skipping. After connecting the display YOU MUST PERFORM AN UPDATE!While your new display is assembled and connected, you must still connect the pi to a tv using the HDMI port to perform an update. Once it boots and you are at your command prompt you must execute the following commands in this order. Let each one run to completion before executing the next command. Each command might take 10 minutes or more to finish. After you execute the last command to reboot, you can then disconnect your HDMI cable and your display will function.sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get upgradesudo reboot
I love the display for the Raspberry Pi, but I recommend buying a case to protect if you’re not doing a special project with it . I would also recommend buying a small keyboard for the touchscreen will only go so far. This is case for the π that I would buy -https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HV97F64/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1The Touchscreen Display is easy to setup and configure. Just make sure you follow the video tutorial(s) and don’t overtighten (this is plastic after all), for it will make your life so much easier. I recommend anyone wanting to learn the nuts and bolts of a computer to start off with the Raspberry Pi. Getting back to the case for the Raspberry Pi. All I can say is that you shouldn’t be disappointed in buying this for the Raspberry π.
Awesome! Great size and great looking screen. Packaging was very protective and instructions were easy to follow. I was looking at a bunch of different screens to use with my Rasberry Pi 3 and I am so glad I went with the official 7.5-inch screen. I also ordered the Official Raspberry Pi 7” Touchscreen Display by Samrticase and wow, what a perfect pair. It can’t be beaten. You will get your money worth with this one. I would fully recommend.
VERY easy to install, connects great. Make sure you read articles about upside down and other settings to make sure works correctly first time.
Worked great for the intended use. Have this running the TouchUI plug in for OctoPrint so I can see print progress at a glance above my 3D printer enclosure. Have to make sure everything is up and running the latest releases and Kernels on the Pi, which in my case is running Raspian lite. This is just the raw screen and connection components, so make sure you pick up or print a enclosure for it. Enclosure / LCD housing was also printed. Pics of my setup with the screen below.
Tiny and more powerful!! These things are aweomse. Have 2 rasberry pi 3 and 1 2, using them for rasplex, and also custom digital guages for my car!! So many cool things you can do with them!
Terrific quality, well-made, display looks good. A bit pricey, but I can definitely see a difference compared with another cheaper one I bought. I rarely use touchscreen feature, but this seems to work fine. Invest in a quality case for this. I bought this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HKWAJ6K but the bamboo one was tempting…
Fantastic! We bought the pi last year but this screen combined with the RS Raspberry Pi 7-Inch LCD Touch Screen Case, Black has made the product so much easier to use.
Works perfectly fine, but very expensive! Unfortunately, this was the only larger touch screen that I could find a good stand for… May not be worth the money!
Great display; I’m using it as a digital photo frame with a Raspberry Pi I already had, and will build a couple more for family; I have programmed them to auto-update as we post…
good product.
Bought this for my portable retro console project. Great design and easy installation! The touch screen is very responsive and I would recommend this to anyone for their RasPi!
I give it five stars because it worked on my raspberry pi 3 and I didn’t even have to install any additional software.
I love it! Looks amazing and is basically plug and play
Your Raspberry Pi deserves a higher resolution than 800x480, but I guess this is the only option we have right now for an official display.
Plug it in. Fired it up. Works perfectly.
Nice screen that has worked well for my car computer application. The mounting holes on the back don’t give a whole lot of space to get a bracket in next to the Raspberry Pi…
