Used on a MESH node to top off a 18ah SLA battery using a Schumacher SPC-7A 12 Volt Solar Charge Controller. Powering a router and a bridge all night long. Battery was fully charged when I took it down at 11:00 a.m. It wasn’t even at optimal pointing. Before the sun even had a chance to come up the controller indicated it was already charging. In fact, I benched tested this with a light bulb at night and it was pushing nearly 16 volts unloaded.I realized the Renogy was a local company so I went there and spoke with their friendly staff to pick up some connectors and mounting brackets. Their price is consistent with the website.I have never seen such an efficient panel in my life.
this is my first “real” solar panel purchase and this one seems to be very high-quality. the aluminum frame is VERY sturdy and the MC4 connectors are a nice touch. i also like the fact that the panel is all black, to match my car. :)initially i’m using this panel to keep my car battery topped off while it’s parked. i attached it to the roof using some strong magnets i purchased here on Amazon (link below). i had two smaller panels for the dash (5W & 7W), but there was never enough sun in my parking spot for them to work properly. this larger panel has no problems putting out energy and keeping everything charged. i measured over 20V on a cloudy day in the shade.i realize a 30W panel is overkill for just keeping a car battery topped off, but i also have plans to build a solar power generator (stored in the car) to which this panel will also provide power.magnets: titanMAG - Cup Wall Mount Magnets - Neodymium Magnets - NdFeB - Rare Earth Magnets - Includes Screws an Storage Box - 1.26” (4 PACK - 75 LB)
I am very impressed with the quality of all the panels I have purchased from Renogy. This panel was for a remote communications project I built, and it performs flawlessly.Amazingly, the panel starts putting out power early in the morning, when there is just enough light to see clearly. Same thing in the evening, it keep putting out power even after the sun dips below the horizon! The quality of the construction is the best I have ever seen, and not just with this panel. I have several other Renogy panels and they are all built to last.I see no need to try anyone else’s panels.
I bought this solar panel, my first purchase of any solar panel, to use on a boat to keep the battery up. A couple weeks after the purchase and installation a storm blew through and the boat filled up with water. The solar panel was now sitting face up, on a seat, under 4” to 8” of water. The same storm devastated the trees around my home so I was involved with that for quite a while, leaving the boat to languish in a floating-but-swamped condition. After I got around to pumping it out, I went back to the tree issues and the boat again filled up with water in a second storm, covering the panel once again. Now, about two months after the first storm, I repaired the boat’s trailer and pulled the boat out of the water. To my great surprise the panel was still generating electricity, and the battery (which was under water whenever the panel was under water) was fully charged. I was shocked - something that rarely happens.Note that I had not installed the charge controller, so this review says nothing about that item, just the panel.
This is a pretty good solar panel for it’s size. The controller is cheap, but also works. The company did a wonderful job of leading me through the many questions i had about solar.
I’ve had this panel for over a year now. Still works great. No issues at all. Very well made and worth the cost. Was also packaged very well. I have this charging a deep cycle battery that powers an electric fence energizer.
this is a great panel and provides good current. my only complaint is that the metal edges and corners are sharp, I covered them with tape to prevent getting cut.
It’s been a couple of months now to give this a chance yet the panel won’t put out more than 9% (having the electric outflow turned off) during cloudless days in southern AZ. Brand new deep cycle battery didn’t help either.
Using this 30w panel for a solar pool heater. Working great. This panel is running a 12v recirculating pump that’s pushing water through 200’ of 1⁄2” irragation hose (in a…
The problem is the controller. Full sun, manual mode (15), switching load on but wihtout load connected. The battery capacity is dropping. I don’t think it is normal.
Riley nice for camping
Works well in Texas even during cloudy conditions.
The panel and charge controller were recently installed on our 27ft sailboat, powering 2, 12Volt deep cycle batteries. So far the panel seems to be good quality.
Panel came quick haven’t connected yet but can’t wait.
I received the Renogy 30W solar panel a few days ago. I connected it to my Battery Tender solar controller and the set up has been working flawlesly.
I use these for charging cars and have worked great.
it was a gift for my brother-in -law. He’s putting it on a small shed in a remote place for charging a car battery fot light and to power a Ham radio.
comments powered by Disqusa very good price on these panels, although I am having trouble with one system I have up, which is no longer charging the batteries enough to keep up with the power consumption,…
