Works great as a secondary alarm on my quad

As advertised. Works great as a secondary alarm on my quad.

A Great Tool for Protecting Your Batteries

I didn’t know I needed anything like this, but Amazon kept suggesting it so I looked into it. I’m so glad I did. This is a great tool for knowing when your LiPo is running out of power and its time to charge it. I didn’t know that if you let a LiPo get too low it can damage it beyond repair or even cause it to become unstable. This device keeps me well within the safe zone.I do have one con for this item:It is VERY loud. As soon as you plug it in, it beeps at you to let you know its connected, but its extremely startling to myself and anyone else around me because its so loud. Anyone using LiPo’s has seen the LiPo exploding videos, so plugging something directly into the battery and having an immediate loud alarm go off is always going to be startling. When it goes off to alert you of a low battery, pretty much anyone within a 12 mile line of sight will be able to hear this. Now, this is of course good because you want to be able to hear the alarm if its attached to a quad copter or something, but I would hope that you are not flying your quad copter that far away.

Received a defective one that quit after a short time.

I connected this up to a 3S Li-Po battery I am using for a FPV system on a tripod powering a 5.8 receiver and a 7” monitor to see how long the battery would last if I left it on. Well, I forgot about it and ran the battery all the way down (never heard the low voltage alarm) but it did something to this voltmeter and now it only shows “Err4” or “Err8” on the LED. Don’t know why running the battery for an extended time would damage this device but it did. It isn’t worth the trouble of sending it back so I tossed it and ordered another one from a different vendor (and cheaper too) as it is a handy device for checking voltage before a flight. The low voltage buzzer is very loud and very annoying and buzzes when you first plug it in so unless you are using it inside an RC device and need to hear it, a small piece of electrical tape over the buzzer openings will quiet it down.Edit 10/15//16: I have about 5 of these and don’t trust any of them. No wonder they are so cheap. Some of them work some of the time and others don’t work at any time. If you want to save your expensive LiPos from discharging them too low don’t depend on these things.

Great little tool for an important task

I use this primarily as a voltage checker. It’s a great way to quickly check the status of my Lipo batteries.Per the labeling on the unit, it can be used with 1S-8S Lipo, Li-ion, LiMn and LiFe batteries.Shows overall voltage for entire battery pack, as well as voltage for each cell in the pack. Very close (<0.1 volts) to the readings my charger gives. If you use this as an alarm while running/flying your RC, it should be plenty loud, even if placed inside a completely closed body. I’ve put a couple layers of electrical tape over the outlet for the buzzer, as it is quite ear piercing as is when using it handheld. Not a negative, as it is intended for potential use as an alarm. If you do want it for an alarm, it is preconfigured to an threshold of 3.3v on a cell. It can be configured with different thresholds, using a single button on the unit. Instructions are contained nicely on bottom of unit. Granted, you need some good eyesight or glasses to read it due to the small size of the unit. But you would most likely be configuring it once.Measures about 1 inch by 1.5 inch by 0.5 inch. So it’s very easy to have in a pocket as needed, and should be easy to fit in an RC if desired.Overall pleased with it. A simple solution to a common need with Lithium based batteries.

Great product!

I have a DJI Phantom, and several batteries. I bought this for keeping track of charged and discharged batteries, and to determine how long my flight times are when the battery is too low to operate the quad copter. Once I find out a good way to attach this to the battery and secure to the Phantom, I will have much more information at my disposal. The alarm is loud enough to hear from a good distance, and you can set low warning alarms. It shows you the voltage in each cell, and the total for all cells. I’m going to order at least one more.

Good product – accurate !!!!

This arrived a little late – UPS managed to fly it across the country three times instead of once,But, when it was delivered I was delighted to see that it was the 1-8s version of the product.Voltages agree with my multimeter to within 0.01 volts and are consistent from channel to channel which is absolutely CRITICAL if you want to use this meter to measure balance in a multi-cell LIPO.So far GREAT. We’ll see how it lasts – it will live in a small padded pouch in the panniers on my electric touring bike.

Must have for ease of mind.

Now my son hears when his drone is getting low on voltage. Easy to use and set the voltage alarm setpoints. Alarm is very noticeable from a long distance. A must have in my book.Note: When plugging battery onto the prongs of the unit do it evenly and get all prongs at same time or it will lock onto one or two cells.Son found alarm went off too early and showed two cells only. He plugged in at a angle. One prong at a time which will give false reading on cells. Go straight on to it and works perfect every time.Update… This was the best add on to the drone. Has gone on many flights and crashed it and it takes a beating and still works. You can hear it five houses away. A++++

Best investment I have made yet for my hexacopter

Best investment I have made yet for my hexacopter. You mount it on your ‘copter near the front end of the battery, plug your battery’s data cable onto the pins and VIOLA! - It sequentially gives you (1) the overall voltage charge your battery has, then (2) the voltage charge of each cell that makes up your battery. This is GREAT for a last-minute check of your battery’s charge just prior to lift-off. It will sound a (very loud) alarm if your battery’s overall voltage drops below a certain (user-set) point - alerting you to the fact that you need to get the ‘copter on the ground. I won’t fly without one of these aboard.

Can’t trust it

Two units and both have issues remembering their alarm set voltage. The concept is good but if a device can’t be trusted it’s not worth having in any situation.

excelente producto

Great buy

It does what it’s supposed to. Its saved multiple lipos and accurately reads out cell voltage

Three Stars

Just OK

Five Stars

A+ quality works as it should, Fast shipping!

ports for battery S7 and S8 are Bad

For some reason s7 and s8 cell monitoring is bad. S2 through S6 work great.S7 reads 6.5 volts and s8 reads .06 volts causing continues alarm.

Great value

This is an awesome little tool. Must have for anyone using lipos. Great value and quick delivery
