Differences between Premiere Plus and Premiere.

I own the Roku Premiere and the Roku Premiere Plus. They are both good but there are some differences. Both could use improvement in being able to customize remote buttons, back-light remote and so forth.OK….Here are the big differences.Premiere Plus has an Ethernet port and micro SD card slot. Also, Premiere Plus is HDR (High Dynamic Range ) TV ready. The Premiere has none of the above listed capabilities. Both are 4K ready. The Premiere Plus remote is thicker, has a better feel to it (my opinion), and requires 2 AA batteries. This remote appears to be a Radio Frequency (RF) remote control. This remote has the headphone jack for private listening. The Premiere remote is thinner and utilizes 2 AAA batteries. This remote is an infrared (IR) type remote. No headphone jack.If your WiFi internet is spotty in your house, I would definitely buy the Premiere Plus, because it has a wired Ethernet port.Personally, I like the Premiere Plus better due to the fact of differences listed above.

Exceeded Expectations! Roku has done it again!

This is my second Roku product I’ve owned and it still hasn’t dissapointed! If you have a HD tv or 4K, this is perfect for you. The resolution is amazing, there’s no buffering or lagging when you switch between apps, the whole thing is awesome.Pros:Great picture quality, easy setup, simple design, connects to wifi quickly, smooth streaming, brighter colors (I compared to my HD tv’s built in Hulu app and the Roku’s Hulu app and there’s a big difference in color brightness), the remote app is still great, more choices for screensavers (now you can choose your own photos or their 4K ones), and when you connect headphones to the remote it doesn’t skip or stop working.Cons:None so far. If you use the gaming buttons of other Roku devices, the fact that this remote doesn’t have them might be a con, but I never used them so it doesn’t make a difference to me.The layout and setup is practically the same as previous models. The biggest differences are the picture quality and speed of the devices. There’s an obvious difference that you can see. The device itself is wider than previous models, but thinner. The remote has a matte finish which is different than the older model’s remote I had.Another perk is that you get almost all the same features as the Apple TV, but cheaper. You can’t beat that!I ordered this from Amazon with 2 day shipping and it shipped and was delivered on time. Box and device were clean and not damaged.Would recommend to everyone!

I really like the Roku Premiere+ (it replaced a Roku 3)

I really like the Roku Premiere+ (it replaced a Roku 3), and I’d give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the audio sync problem that others have mentioned. The problem occurs on all 4K video (which is pretty spectacular otherwise) on Amazon Video, Netflix and HBO. With manual lip sync on my Yamaha receiver, I’ve been able to make the problem tolerable (again,as another reviewer mentioned), but it varies from source to source, so is never totally “right.” Like the others, I wish Roku would come up with a fix. I really like the unit, but this problem is a major flaw in an otherwise nice device.

With this Premier + unit . I can really see a difference in the Picture quality.( I do NOT have a 4 k TV) & the clarity

I have owned a Roku since it was introduced to the market… In fact still have the old unit… and it still WORKS..but have upgraded several times over the years.. But I have to say I other than speed they were pretty much the same…. but w this Premier Plus unit . I can really see a difference in the Picture quality… I do NOT have a 4 k TV I have a Samsung 1080 p …. but there is remarkable differences in the clarity of the picture..Yesterday after install I flipped on Sling TV ( free trial ) and tuned in to one of the marathon Star War’s movies that was playing. It was so near what I saw in the theater, I was shocked. But just to PROVE to myself I wasn’t seeing something just because it was a new unit .. I flipped OFF the Roku and tuned in to that same TV show on my TV…… good grief it was like switching from a HD station to a SD station………!!!!I didn’t think having the earbuds attached to the remote would be even something I would be interested. in … again I was WRONG…… plugged in my personal ear buds and it worked PERFECTLY… even having the sound controller on the side of the Remote…I am now anxious to try some really nice Movies… w a lot of high level CGI…. and see if the picture was as dramatic as what I was seeing yesterday on Sling TV…Overall I was pleasantly surprised … and just as a aside.. I much prefer the screen tiles etc on the Roku vs the way the Fire TV is laid out.. Much simpler on the Roku and honestly you don’t need any fancy screen you just need to FINE the app your looking for.. and they even let you change the line up so the apps you use the most can be MOVED up the list to make it just that much easier..I really PREFER the simplicity…. over the FIRE TVSo I can say that I do recommend this upgrade………not all of the previous versions of Roku’s could I make that recommendation but this year there is real difference.

Five Stars

Works great! I like how I can order channels for other countries

Beware if you plan on using the Ethernet connection

I’m really on the fence about whether to return this.It does have some strong positives:Plex app makes it really convenient to stream movies from my media…

Great product!

Great product. I love the headphone jack in the remote. It is perfect to watch TV while my boyfriend is asleep!

Love my new ROKU

I had previously owned a ROKU streaming stick but I recently purdhased the Roku Premier + because of the ability to have a wired connection and also because of the enhanced remote…

Best device of its kind if they would just fix it.

I’m torn between liking it and hating it. It’s a terrific device and made it easy to cut the cord and give up cable.

Five Stars

worth it. cut the swindling cord and contract.

No more Roku for me!

A significant number of folks are having HDCP and HDMI handshake issues with the newer Roku models. I experienced these issues on a Roku Ultra.

Will not work with receiver

Not a good customer experience with Roku. First I ordered the Premiere Plus. I didn’t realize it when ordering but no separate audio output, only HDMI (which shouldn’t have been…

Good hardware but suffer from poor UI.

Its ok with impressive hardware but seem lacking with software. The netflix and amazon app are made pretty well but the twitch and youtube app are terrible.

Very happy.

Not a single problem so far. Very happy.
