This flash drive is a bit slower than Sandisk’s tiny flash drive but this one doesn’t heat up as much.Here’s some transfer speedsSamsung:• 519 MB .FLAC- 20.65 seconds• 757 MB .MP4 - 31.12 seconds• 3.8 GB .ISO - 2 minutes 32 seconds• 4GB 4K .MP4 - 2 minutes 39 secondsSandisk:• 519 MB .FLAC- 14.07 seconds• 757 MB .MP4 - 21.33 seconds• 3.8 GB .ISO - 1 minute 42 seconds• 4GB 4K .MP4 - 1 minute 46 seconds
Technically I’d have to give this like 4.5⁄5 stars, but I’ll explain why later.Recently I bought a Surface Book laptop, and it’s been better than I ever could’ve wished. The only problem is I happen to be a pretty avid gamer, and just didn’t have the hard drive space for my entire library :p . I have a 3tb portable hard drive, but didn’t want to carry that with me everywhere I go. I have a few flash drives but they stick out too much to be left indefinitely. It was then that I stumbled into the world of low profile flash drives.I read a bunch of reviews and was stuck between this one and the Sandisk alternative. The Sandisk one, however, had so many horror stories of the drive overheating so in the end I chose this route. I have since not been disappointed once. This little drive is massive in size and blazing fast, but I think my favorite part has to be the low profile design. It’s been in my laptop for the past few months and the only time I notice it is when I’m scrolling through files on it. Not once has it ever caught on anything or even budged. This is where that .5 star comes into play though. Through the reviews there were a few that indicated the back cap just coming off. On mine, I’ve noticed it wiggles up and down. This wasn’t how it was initially, and it’s not the USB port itself (as I’ve checked with other drives). If I take the drive out I can literally see the back moving back and forth. Now, this isn’t a problem at all to the drive, but more to my confidence in it. I have a lot of files on the drive and would be crushed if one day it just fell apart. I know this wasn’t the most expensive drive but just a little bit of quality reassurance would be appreciated.I’d like to end by saying I would completely recommend this drive to anyone shopping for one. I wasn’t paid or offered anything for this review, and it represents my honest opinion. I shop on Amazon all the time and rely heavily on the reviews to help me decide on a product. If you found this review helpful it would be so great to have you push that yes to the bottom right as this helps me alot :).
This is a great little flash drive. My second 128GB capacity USB 3 flash drive and my first of this smaller form factor. I have been loosely testing it on my Windows 7 computer. It shows up as 119GB for me but that will vary slightly for people depending on your computer and OS.The drive looks very small and sleek. It seems like high quality plastics and what I assume is aluminum is used to make this drive. It seems sturdy enough to attach to my keys or throw in my bag. It is 19mm long and 15mm wide at tallest and longest points. It is impressively small and even more so considering the speeds I got in my loose testing.Moving a 1.77GB file to it took an average of 36 seconds which means it would take under 40 minutes to fill the 119GB on average using USB 3 on my computer. Moving that same file from the drive to my computer took an average of 6 seconds which means it would take less than 6 minutes to transfer the full 119GB through USB 3 on my computer. The speeds were good, surprisingly so. Compared to my full sized sandisk USB 3 128GB flash drive it was much faster in write speed and a barely slower in read. It took my Sandisk drive a 1m38s to write that same 1.77GB file and 5 seconds to read it. It was a very non technical test but the results look great for the Samsung drive speeds.I had considered buying the small form factor Sandisk 128GB USB 3 flash drive for a while but was slightly turned off by how many reviewers wrote of the excessive heat it gave off after extended use or just being plugged in for long periods of time. I have bought only Sandisk drives for years after previous mixed experience with other drives like Lexar and PNY. I like the Sandisk drives, they have been affordable and reliable in the time that I have used them and although I have no experience with the small Sandisk drives, the possible heat issues turned me away from that specific drive. After playing a video file for an hour off of this drive, I found it was a little warm but no excessive heat anywhere on the drive. The size of this drive makes it perfect for plugging into compatible stereos, portability, and as extra storage for laptops that you can leave plugged in. I will be using this primarily for storage but appreciate the size for portability. My only issues with this drive have little to do with the drive or its performance but the accessories and the lack thereof. This drive comes with nothing. There is no secure software on the drive itself and it does not come with a plastic cap to cover the port. More importantly, although it does have a small hole to attach a small lanyard or keyring, it does not come with either. What you see here is exactly what you get and that for the most part turns out to be great when you consider price, form factor, capacity, and performance.Despite my minor gripes, the drive is great and I’m very satisfied with it so far. Time will tell if it is durable or reliable enough for the long haul but I will update my review should it not. For anything under $40 in late 2015, I think this is a great drive and have no problem recommending it.
Very usefull and small size
First I have to write that the flash drive seems to work really great. Having said that the only thing I would like for the flash drive to have is a Activity Light when in use.
Bought one for me, then my friend and mom got one as well. This thing is OP I tell you, such a small dongle contains half the size of my laptop SSD.
No problems.
I love this thing!!! It’s so small and doesn’t get in the way.
Went corrupt after a year of using it, now all my files are gone.
great deal
You love all the room on this flash drive!
Love this thing. The form factor and white styling is great. Fast enough read/write speeds for the money and capacity after formatting is 119GB.
