Style:Blu-ray Tbd
Since I have so many friends misunderstanding what this Blu-ray player is I thought I’d post a review here. This is not an Ultra-HD Blu-ray player, and there are no Ultra-HD Blu-ray players on the market yet (also referred to as 4K or UHD). Nor are there any Ultra-HD Blu-ray discs available yet. Don’t get me wrong, this is an awesome Blu-ray player, and if you don’t have one it’s an excellent buy. But the Ultra-HD player standard was just finalized and players/discs won’t be available until sometime in 2016. And when they are released they are expected to be in the $400 to $500 price range. The discs will also be significantly more expensive, though of course it will depend upon the studio and movie. What this player does do however is an awesome job of taking conventional DVD/Blu-ray discs and streaming media and converting them, called upscaling, to a higher resolution so they look better on UHD/4K TVs. And this players upscaling is indeed top of the line. Of course all UHD TVs have built in upscaling, but depending on the model and brand this player may do a better job. So if you get your brand new TV and conventional media looks grainy or pixelated this player will probably fix the problem. However if the picture already looks good I’d save my money for an Ultra-HD player, which should be available mid-2016.
Sharper picture & more features than the 2008 Samsung Blu Ray Disc Player it replacedPros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Bright display, Lightweight, sharper image than my 2008 samsung blu ray, easy to install, easy to operate, intuitive operation, sharper image with regular dvd, sharper image with netflixSHARPER PICTURE, MORE FEATURESI highly recommend the Samsung BD-J-7500 Blu Ray Disc Player. I love it unreservedly. I disagree with the reviewer who had trouble playing a disc. This unit works just like my 2008 Samsung Blu Ray Disc Player: open disc tray, insert disc, close tray, fast forward through Previews or let the Previews play automatically, when you get to the screen for the movie, hit play and it plays. No problems there. My primary reason to replace my 2008 unit was to take advantage of the Samsung “Smart Hub”, for easy access to apps, because my old player only got Netflix, and was no longer supported for YouTube or Pandora. The bonus in upgrading was:SHARP: the BDJ7500 looks at least twice as sharp as my 2008 Samsung BDP3600 1080p Blu Ray for both ordinary discs and for Netflix. I have not tried a Blu Ray disc yet.FAST NETFLIX: Netflix works much more smoothly on the BDJ7500. WAY faster access and operation, plus sharpness that looks at least double.APP: Lots of them. More than anybody would ever need.I paired this with my 2008 Plasma SamsungTV series 6⁄650 50”, model PN50 B650 S-1FXZA. I bought it to replace my still-working and much loved Samsung BD-P3600 1080p Blu Ray.I feel as though I have a brand new TV, because the sharpness is so enhanced when playing ordinary DVDs and Netflix. I look forward to exploring other options for entertainment, particularly YouTube and Amazon.EASY SETUP: I am not a technogeek. I am a 64 year old woman. As soon as my BDJ7500 arrived, I opened the box, put the batteries in the remote, pulled the TV from the wall, unplugged the HDMI from my old Samsung and plugged it in the identical port on the new, then I unplugged the Ethernet from the old unit and plugged in the ethernet in the new. Plugged in the power, and it turned the TV on for me with easy instructions on getting started. Time elapsed: 10-15 minutes, and the hardest part was getting down on my hands and knees to access the bottom shelf of the cart that holds my Disc Player. There are some optional audio setups which may take a few minutes longer, but I get my sound through my TV and so it was super simple.
Works like a charm with Wi-Fi access to Netflix. Setup was no problem and it automatically connected to my Wi-Fi with just a password to input. Able to get the software update right away. The 3D is awesome on my 4K UHD TV. I have not found 4K media to try out just yet. Fairly small unit and very light weight.
Easy to set up. Download speed is pretty good. Does a great job at picking up WiFi signal. Excellent picture quality on streaming material. DVD performance is excellent. No problem, as reported in another review, with DVD door opening and closing. Hopefully the price will go down so this DVD player is within more customers’ price point. I went ahead and purchased at about $200 just to make sure I had the latest and greatest.
I have had this unit for about a month now and all I can say is that I haven’t been so impressed with anything since the first DVD player I purchased many years ago. I am an audio and videophile and know the differences in quality. I only have Blu Ray and the new Samsung 4k uhd tv and nothing else. No Internet or any other type of input to compare to. So, needless to say, I can’t wait to see what 4k media will look like. I am already blown away as is, but any better, will probably knock my socks off. I would recommend this setup to anyone. I ordered this from AMAZON and as far as I am concerned, probably the best, cheapest and safest way to go. THANK YOU SAMSUNG AND AMAZON
Just received this unit . extremely easy set up, connects to wifi very easily. not sure why other reviewers say that there is no eject button on remote as it is under the left side red power button . loads discs fast great 3d picture seller very good also i received it much sooner than expected
This dvd player can easily handle any format I put in. Never hangs up like my older one did at times.
Nice picture and easy to use and setup. The remote only works with Samsung TVs so if you don’t have one you’ll need two remotes to adjust the volume and operate the Blu-ray too. Had I known that before I would have chosen differently.
use this everyday it’s the best
I bought one in 2014. It has outstanding video both streaming and from disc. Our problem started about a year after we purchased it.
Great Blu-ray player. Samsung has always been a good buy for me.
The app interface is crap. If the app was preloaded, you can’t change the shortcut to it. Means to get to pandora, if takes about 7 button presses on the remote through two…
Will NOT play some of my U.S.A. legal Blu-Rays.I can play these just fine on my PC with a Blu-Ray built-in player and nero software.
Our old Blue-ray Samsung DVD player stopped playing some dvds so I did some online research to find others had the same issue.
Meh. Slow apps, clunky menu. Ok, not a great pick. Slow, poorly responsive to button commands, unfriendly user interface, gross remote control design.
Works great, I might even get another for the bedroom!!
My husband did quite a bit of research before replacing our 10 year old Blu-Ray player. We have been very impressed with this Samsung.
comments powered by DisqusExcellent. I Love it. Everything you could want. The up-conversion makes even regular DVD’s look near Blu-Ray Quality. Highly Recommend.
