Frequency Response: 40Hz - 20KHz
Sound+ Soundbars are simply beautiful. Samsung audio technologies deliver room-filling, home theater sound without the need for a separate subwoofer. Designed with streamlined wires and an elegant easy mount option, Sound+ becomes one with your TV and brings your entire cinematic experience together like never before.
Excellent sound bar! I’m a musician and very picky about sound overall, but for a decent priced all in one sound bar this has an impressive built in sub woofer and large loud sound that works well for movies and music in the home. Definitely worth the price point. Not sure an extra subwoofer would even be needed. Connection with bluetooth and wifi worked well also with iPad for playing music. Havn’t tried the Samsung app yet.
Two words ,“BUY IT” I just got this after having a Pioneer SB23 that did not live up to its hype . After seeing only a few great reviews because its new I figured I would give it a try . Right out of the box the set up was so easy ,Nice separate wall mounting brackets included not like the cheap hooks they put on the back of most sound bars . The sound is fantastic great bass but not over powering unless you are watching explosions then it sounds awesome . I plugged in the optical cable and it automatically synced to my Comcast remote ,I just had to set my TV to external speakers and I was in business . I have not tried the WIFI yet but everything else so far is exceptional . This is the first time I have reviewed anything that’s how much I loved this speaker. Great Job Samsung now I’m considering the add on wireless rear speakers , Not that it needs them .
as advertised
Easy to set up and works great
Aside from the awesome sound and easy setup, I want to emphasize that this soundbar works with Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) which is the major audio format for Netflix. When streaming from my Roku 4, other soundbars wouldn’t be able to decode DD+ (ahem, Sonus Playbar). Hooked this up to my XBR940D and Roku 4 and it’s playing things perfectly. Can’t wait for the subwoofer.
This soundbar is the PERFECT complement to my new Samsung QN55Q7F 4K Ultra HD Smart QLED TV. Not only goes it look great but the sound output is unbelievably crisp and powerful. It looks stunningly sleek and the gunmetal color beautifully completes the look of the TV. This soundbar achieves a gorgeous minimal design by hiding its LED display within the right side of the soundbar’s grill and has capacitive buttons hidden from the front view on the side of the soundbar. This soundbar is packaged well and set up was unbelievably easy. The accessories/parts for the soundbar was packed nicely in a separate box with all equipment provided for easy mounting.Connecting the soundbar to the TV with the Digital Audio In port is simple and self-explanatory. I use bluetooth speakers on a regular basis, so I wanted to connect my phone to the speaker as well. Although I couldn’t figure out how to right away, a simple flip through the pages of the User Manual had me pair my phone within seconds. The sound is truly amazing. To be honest, I couldn’t really tell how much depth or bass is added to my regular TV shows with the soundbar because the TV already provides great sound. While watching a regular cable TV show, I found myself increasing the volume to ~level 20 to hear a discernable difference from the TV speakers to the soundbar speakers, most likely due to the low quality in cable television. Once I paired my phone and listened to songs from Apple Music, there was a CLEAR mind-blowing difference. However, the best part about this soundbar is when it is paired with my new UBD-M9500 blu-ray player, the sound is insanely remarkable. If you care about your movie watching experience, there is no substitute to this soundbar. Without a subwoofer, sound fills the room and has no sacrifice in speech clarity when volume is increased. I love how clear music sounds with the soundbar and adjusting the bass is quick and easy whenever I want to be cautious about annoying my neighbors.
The Good:The bass is sincerely mind boggling. I can’t believe a soundbar form-factor can produce that rich, detailed bass. And the bass response is very balanced across the lower frequencies, there’s no discernible crossover point, I never think “oh the sub really kicked in there”. It’s even, sound flows from low to mid frequencies smoothly. And overall volume capability is great. The “distortion canceling” feature is more than hype. It’s fairly heavy, which I appreciate because that usually indicates quality.Connectivity is exactly what I need. Optical, Wifi, Bluetooth, and 3.5mm input. There’s also HDMI in and out, which I don’t need.It looks fantastic. My wife is a Pinterest-worthy home decorator, so appearance matters. They put a lot of thought into a sleek, minimalistic design. The LED display only lights up when changing settings, then shuts off completely, disappearing behind the front grill. Perfect! The Bad:I must disagree with those who say this soundbar has excellent clarity. This soundbar specializes in extraordinary bass response. But it sounds muffled; I am not getting good detail or imaging at the mid to higher frequencies.I’ve played with all the settings. The best settings I found are “Smart Mode” combined with treble maxed out at +6. Still, there is really something missing, as though I’m listening through a blanket.I compared this Sound+ soundbar to my Kanto Yumi powered 5” desktop speakers (model YUMIREDGL), which cost me half of what the Sound+ did. Yes, I know I’m comparing a soundbar to a pair of desktop speakers. It’s what I have. I wanted to replace the Yumi speakers with a soundbar form-factor for space reasons (but I won’t be doing that).I placed the Yumi speakers in the same location as the Sound+, and spaced them apart to match the length of the Sound+.My test song was Latch by Disclosure and Sam Smith. The Sound+ has more impressive bass (though the Yumi is also no slouch on bass) . But the Yumi brings the music to life, notes just dancing about, in their own space, slicing the air molecules with razor blades. Latch contains a lot of intense synthesized effects, and the Yumi sends them soaring. The Sound+ is drab by comparison, the notes just don’t sparkle, they don’t find their own space. One might say “it’s not fair to compare a soundbar to a pair of larger desktop speakers.” That’s very true, which is why it’s so impressive that the Sound+ has better bass, despite the smaller drivers. The tweeters are the same size on the Sound+ and Yumi, but the Yumi is strikingly dominant in detail and imaging. For half the cost, the Kanto Yumi delivers elevated sound. (I do not work for nor am sponsored by Kanto)Conclusion:I believe the Sound+ delivers a step forward in soundbar technology. However, it lacks high frequency, clarity, and imaging, which are ultimately more important to me. I would definitely purchase a future version of the Sound+ if those areas are improved. I believe that if Samsung can pack that much bass into a soundbar form factor, then they can deliver the crisp detail as well. For now, I’ve returned the Sound+.
I was very excited to get this soundbar. While it sounds better than my tv and is a noticeable difference, the highs have a static crunchy sound when the volume is cranked louder…
I used this sound bar every single day for several weeks. It was connected to my 60” Samsung TV (KS8000) via optical cable.
Great for the home entertainment room. Working well in a newly finished basement. Love the sound.
I have previously had soundbars that were $200 or less and they didn’t sound much better than the TV itself except for some additional bass from the subwoofer, which was a…
Two Stars due to Samsung SmartThings integration. Unlike other Samsung Multi-room speakers and soundbars, this product DOES NOT work with Samsung’s SmartThings.
Boy is this thing heavy. Not a fan of all the hype it produces, not easy to pai either with samsung rear speakers, got it going but boy is this thing heavy
Absolute garbage, marginal sound quality and the optical cable connection failed after one day, ONE DAY of use and i needed to re-establish the optical cable connection.
Very high quality. Great sound. Much better base then I expected. I will not need to purchase a receiver because the sound bar meets all my needs.
Pros -Looks sexy.Sounds great.Enough bass with subwoofer optional. Can add wireless rear speaker for true surround sound.
