Great as a second monitor!!!!! And More!!!

There is a use for this monitor that I don’t think most people have considered. By running an app called “twomonusb”, which is available in the Google Play Store, I can use this as a second monitor. I have it connected, using a USB cable, to my 13 in Asus Zenbook Windows 10 computer. I love it. I think you can use it with a Mac also but I have not tested this. One more excuse for buying this strange but wonderful device. Of course, I also love it with my Tivo app, as a tv where I don’t have cable, and with Netflix, PocketCast, YouTube, etc. etc. etc.Added next day. I have discovered more about this. The twomonusb software easily allows switching between cloned monitors and extended monitors. Really fun is that Touch input works on the extended monitor, even if there is no touch on the Windows computer. Of course you can just use the mouse but dragging windows around and opening folders by double tapping is fun. Since the View is connected with a usb cable, you also have access on your Windows computer to the files stored on the View. Since you can add a 256G card to the View this could be very helpful.Suggestion….Get an input stylus with this device to avoid fingerprints all over the screen.Search for Touch Screen Pen in Amazon. One even has a regular pen on the other end.

A great unit for a specific niche of user.

I have used the Galaxy View for a few days now. Since I bought the tablet on sale for $350.00, I feel I got a great deal. I have been very impressed with the unit as I use it for mostly movie viewing, reading e-books and digital comics, running mobile versions of Microsoft Office and using unit as a desktop pc replacement. (Works very nicely with USB OTG connected keyboard, mouse and hard drive.) The unit can playback Digital MKV files from my Hard Drive that are sized over 30GB with no stutter, and works well with the internal Micro SD Card Storage (I purchased a Samsung 128GB Select Micro SD and it plays back music and films perfectly.) I had considered buying an IPAD PRO 12.9 inch, but this is cheaper, has better storage options, has the larger screen size I like, and fits the media consumption based usage I require.I can’t really attest to the ability of the tablet to run high powered games, I tried some casual games like Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds and it worked flawlessly. I also tried Deus Ex: The Fall, which is the most resource hungry game I own for Android and it ran beautifully.The few gripes I have with the unit: 1.) I wish the unit could turn into portrait mode, but I have had no luck getting that to occur, even using screen rotate programs from the Google Play store…If any of you know how to do it, please let me know! 2.) The screen: A 4K/Retina style screen would have been nice, but I use mine about 1.5 feet from my face and the 1080P resolution seems fine. 3.) It is hard to find a case for the Galaxy View due to the hinged back stand…the ones that are available run around $50.00. I may wait for the case to go on sale too! :)Just a heads up for potential buyers, I had to order a replacement unit, as the first one that arrived would just randomly restart. This is not normal, and I am happy to say that it was just a lemon. The replacement unit is doing wonderfully. Amazon’s exchange policy is awesome.Update: (9/14/16) I had mentioned the carry case was $50.00… It is going for about $30.00 now. I recommend it!

battery life is great at 35% ish brightness which is plenty bright

got this for my mom. it’s has a huge screen, the interface is fluid it’s basically a huge tablet.charge time it very fast. seems to fully recharge in less than two hours.battery life is great at 35% ish brightness which is plenty bright.you’ll probably get 6 hours or entire day out of it.the device charges pretty quickly while in use, I couldn’t really notice it charging any slower unlike my other devices.there’s a cool streaming service jump screen icon in the lower right corner that gives access to hulu, netflix etc.taking note from previous posts I was mindful of the charging port and advised my mom to exercise caution with handling the tablet when it is plugged in. you can wedge the ferrite beads at then end of the charge cord into the stand to provide strain relief.this isn’t the type of device that you’d swing around like a cellphone or smaller tablet while it’s charging, but if you are mindful of the situation it shouldn’t be a problem if you decide to put it on your lap.also… it doesn’t rotate view as far as i can tell, but it’s far too large for it to be a practical function.i have a 20” tablet that rotates. i’ve used the function only handful of times.will update in 6 months or sooner if a problem arises.

I was incredibly hesitant about buying the Galaxy View. My main motivation was using it to read digital comics, as even my 10-inch tablet makes them look small. I sorry to say that the View does not play well with the Marvel Unlimited digital comics app– the pages don’t properly size automatically, so you must constantly keep your hand on the screen to manually zoom out to an appropriate distance.That being said, I’m really loving the View for everything else– YouTube, recipes on the kitchen counter, as a music player over Bluetooth connection to my stereo or headphones, and even basic web browsing. The jumbo size is a pleasure to work with, the sound is great from the built-in speakers, it is surprisingly fast (much faster than my Tab Pro 10.1) and I really have no complaints about the screen resolution.Is it portable, as in, portable outside the house? Not really. But I constantly tote it all around my apartment watching YouTube videos as I do my chores or get ready for work.Is it heavy? Oh heck yes. But I still put it on my lap to do web browsing, or stand it up on a pillow to read digital comics. It isn’t perfect, but the drawbacks are overwhelmed by the pleasure provided by the huge display and nice sound, not to mention the epic battery life and pretty fast charging.I’d love Marvel to get their act together and make a decent digital comics app, but even given the frustration there, on the whole I’m very pleased with my decision to buy this monster tablet.

Love it. Good sound and good image. I use it for. BBC iPlayer mainly and it works great. Also goods a music player for parties

Well worth the money overall a no-brainer if you want a big tablet
