Product Reviews

Great Camera

Great camera! I use this camera with a Samsung 128GB MicroSD Pro+ memory card and a Samsung S8 and i have no problems. I would recommend this camera. A couple of things you might want to know before buying: 1) you can hang the camera upside down to record video and will be automatically righted when the video is saved to your phone. 2) if you record long videos, the software will split the video into 11m27s segment videos (which can be stiched back together via the free software).

Don’t buy if you don’t have a flagship Samsung phone

I own both the 2016 and 2017 versions and have been very happy. I also have an S8+ to pair with, which makes things very easy. A lot of the negative reviews for this camera seem to be based around one of two things: either the reviewer did not have a flagship Samsung phone to pair with, or they misunderstood how 360 cameras work and were disappointed that the 4k video didn’t look like that of a gopro.I’ll say this, if you don’t have a newer Samsung phone, don’t buy this camera. Yes it can still be used with PC software, but the experience is terrible and clunky. Samsung makes the software very difficult to find, and the quality is pretty poor. If I stitch my footage using the PC software, it takes about twice as long as on my phone, despite having a very beefy gaming rig. And the final product is always lower quality, and occasionally will have a small black hole in the middle. For this I’m docking 1 star.If I use my S8 for everything though, the experience is great. The app is very stable and intuitive to use. Transferring and stitching content is fast and easy, and it’s always fun to show it off to people. For the other half of people who don’t seem to understand how 360 cameras work, don’t read that this is a 4k camera and expect to use this as a gopro substitute. That 4k resolution is stretched all the way around 360 degrees of view, and obviously isn’t going to look as crisp as a camera shooting 4k in a small field of view directly in front of it.Also people complain about overheating when filming 30+ minute video clips: duh? Again, not the point of this camera. It’s not an action cam, or a dash cam. And super long 360 videos are not fun to deal with, and especially not fun to watch. Try uploading a 30 minute 360 video to Facebook or YouTube… it will not work.

For everyone that has problems with stitching videos

I really love the camera, but at the beginning it wasn’t stitching my videos right - like couple other people noted, it was black screen with the sound. After couple e-mails to Cyberlink, it ended up that the official link on the Samsung product page is to the older application - v1.0. You need the v2.0 for this camera (I can’t post the link). After installing, it’s easy to activate the software with your accrual serial number (without the need to contact Samsung) and video and pictures get stitched just fine. Hope it helps somebody.

Can be used as a hand warmer.

In order to operate this I had to use a very low resolution and keep constant airflow on the camera. I bought a recommended high speed Samsung micro SD card which is said to reduce overheating, but I was unable to use the camera for the most part.

Five Stars

Quality product and delivered on time.

Would not recommend.

Footage is unusable and extremely pixelated once I run it through their stitching app. Would not recommend.

Although image quality is best when viewed on a computer

It works well on iPhone 7. Although image quality is best when viewed on a computer. In the app the image has a smaller dimension.

Best bang for the buck

Pros: I am very impressed with the quality of video. Does 4K recording, Excellent ergonomics, Fits well in all size hands, Live stream using samsung phones.

Overheats - poor video performance

VERY DISAPPOINTED. I bought this a few weeks after the older Gear 360 … hoping it was better. Technically, it IS …

the lenses have a bug but very good design and very good software for sync by phone

this is a troubled cameravideos and photos quality is very important because this is a camera not joystick.

Five Stars

Impressive quality and very easy to use

Overheating makes 4K unreliable after 9 minutes

Overheating is an issue with this device. I bought this camera to record the surroundings of the place I planned to witness the Total Solar Eclipse.

I LOVE this camera, but there’s one HUGE FLAW!

As a Samsung S7 Edge owner, I love this camera, but it has one MAJOR flaw that the end user needs to be cognitive of at all times, or the camera will be damaged (as mine was/is).
