Read the instructions!

A lot of the negative reviews seem to be caused by not reading the instructions completely, or understanding how to properly connect.First, this soundbar remote WILL control a Samsung TV and, if connected via a digital audio cable, WILL power on and off with the TV alone…no need to power on the soundbar separately.Once the TV is shut off the soundbar will remain on for 20 minutes and then power itself off. It actually does say this on the instruction manual!The digital audio cable is the best choice. Connect from the TV to the soundbar, not from the cable box to the soundbar.There are several sound options via the remote. I prefer “Drama” over any of the other choices for movies and TV shows. You need to play with it and see what you like.The subwoofer will give you a nosebleed. If it is turned up passed +2 or +3 it will tend to muddle the other sound frequencies. Be conservative with it to get full fidelity.If you want to see this soundbar before buying, go to Sears. They have it there set up for demo. The price is better here on Amazon. There are many preset sound options with this product. But that is actually a good thing, as long as you take the time to explore them.

Disappointed sub-woofer wiring

I bought this sound bar three years ago and use it primarily when watching movies on my smart TV through Netflix, Hulu, etc. The sound is great. It makes the dialog audible and it accomplishes the job for which I bought this device. The reason for four stars is that the sub-woofer does not have a jack for the wire. The wire just goes into the back panel of the sub-woofer. Recently, the wire was severed and now I cannot simply buy a new wire, I have to get a new sub-woofer. I am not an audio expert and would not venture to remove the back of the speaker. It is not constructed to be taken apart. This is disappointing because I really like this sound bar. It now costs more than when I bought it and I cannot see spending extra money for a cheap sub-woofer wire connection.

obvious and excellent improvement on our audio experience

ROCKSTAR. Simple to unpack, position and set up. Quick start instructions included. Also includes brackets if you wanna wall mount the sound bar below your TV. Our set up is a Samsung TV, Samsung Blu-ray player and now this soundbar. We connected the soundbar to the TV via optical cable, positioned the soundbar immediately in front of the TV, sub woofer behind it against a wall. 10 minute install. Room we set it up in is about 10’ x 20’. Immediate, obvious and excellent improvement on our audio experience! Subwoofer sounds great. Directional sound now makes previously muddled, squashed and swinging levels sound they’re supposed to. Remote control is easy to use, all functions explained in manual. Optical cable NOT included. Pick one up for under $30 at any Target, Best Buy, Radio Shack, whatever. Using optical cable improves connection and sound quality, I found. Plus let’s the system automatically turn on with the TV.

Set up your expecations right and it will not fail you.

This is now an older model which doesn’t have HDMI so you have to use an optical audio cable. Can’t really complain about that because you can’t get the most out of DTS Master Audio/Dobly TrueHD tracks with this soundbar. I have this in my master bedroom and there is more than enough power in this thing to get the job done. Truth be told it can only be as good as the quality of how you’re watching something. Blu-ray has the best audio followed by Vudu/Netflix which feature lossy but still better than DVD tracks. I bought it on sale for $89 and it really was a bargain.Not recommended for large living rooms. Tends to play music loud over other sound but not by much. Amount of boom from woofer depends on how your watching movies and what kind they are. Only Blu-rays have lossless audio tracks everything else is lesser quality. Worst I’d saw is watching on cable tv they have cheap audio.Good soundbar for a bedroom/small living room.

Realistically 3.5 Star Rating. Good Sound, Low Foot Print For Small Living Room

I knew what I shouldn’t have been expecting when I purchased this. Deep rich surround sound and amazing bass. With that in mind what I got in reality was slightly better than TV speaker quality. I feel the reviews here led me to be underwhelmed with this sound. First of all. Why in the hell do they provide you with every cable you might need, except for Digital Optical Audio, if ideally that’s the best fidelity connection you should use to get signal from TV to speakers while silencing TV speakers?There are a couple different listening presets, of course tailored to a particular genre of broadcast Samsung thinks sounds best. For instance you can switch to Sports, Drama, Gaming, News. How they determine these I dunno. I will say that for the most part they all sound like garbage, even introducing something I can only describe as echo, or reverb, so I set it off. There’s also two buttons that pretty much do the same thing: They equalize the lowest sounds and loudest sounds to, I guess, filter out unexpected audio drop offs or spikes. My concern is this also kind of flattens the diversity of the intended sound mix, no? I keep both of these set to low. Beyond those presets you really have very little ability to customize the sound on your exact terms besides a simple Bass adjustment. Bass by the way, even with the supplied subwoofer, is decent if not lacking in Dr. Dre style oomph. Then again, I haven’t tried it as loud as I could get it. Size is perfect for a bar that can sit in front of a TV on the same stand. It’s low enough to not block the IR receiver, too much. You can also fiddle with the sound delay if the picture and sound do not sync fully. My problem with this is you can only add or remove a delay my milliseconds. You cannot nudge the sound ahead of the picture, which I sometimes feel is needed in syncing speech. I paired this to a computer over bluetooth and tested out listening to iTunes on these speakers, and the computer was in the same room as the speakers, no more than 10 feet away, and the signal was having difficulty coming through. Finally, I’m really not thrilled about having a second controller to keep track of, but that’s a universal problem.But enough complaining. Overall, when it comes to listening experience, I do enjoy having this. I can only judge based on this model, but listening to TV shows, Youtube, music, movies the sound is very good, not theater quality, but for the price, I’m happy.
