These are great drives, I bought two 16GB was able to transfer a full 10GB in about 20 minutes.I played movies on it one as long as a hour and no delays played fine.I have used these drives from 4gb 8 and 16 no issues solid and like that they retract.UPDATE : HOW TO USE THIS DRIVE.First do not use the password software it old and outdated, second format the drive to NTFSdo not use on FAT32. There seems to be some problem with file access in this format on most there drives. However formatting to NTFS improves speed and reliability. I have a few 8 year old 16g drives still working greatand are NTFS.
I’ve have had this for a little over a month now and it still works great! The fist time I ever used a flash drive it was a SanDisk brand, and I knew it would not let me down. I mostly use it for Word documents, PowerPoint Slides and Excel sheets for my college classes. I have used it every day for a month now, and the speed is still the same and it works perfectly. The only thing that might concern you is if you try to edit a large picture from it. I had scanned in a few of my drawings and then tried to color them in using my Windows photo editor, but the whole program was extremely slow because I was trying to edit it from the flash drive. Once I transferred the picture to my laptop, the program worked fine. Of course, this flash drive was not made for that type of editing anyway, but just a minor issue to get around.
Received this item about 5 months ago, worked great for those 5 months, fast transfer rates,no data loss, no problems mounting / unmounting on several PC’s. Into the 6th month, I hadjust backed up some data in preparation for transfer to another PC when it just stopped working.Pretty disappointing but, I have to give 5 stars to Sandisk for standing by their warranty.I called them up and explained what had happened and they said no problem, we will send areplacement out to you express mail. Which they did. Even better, the original was a 16gb drive, theyreplaced it with a 32gb drive. Great customer service !
While I have no doubt it will do the job of a flash drive, it is not as easy to carry around as some other flash drives I’ve had. It isn’t a case of attaching a split ring to it and then putting it on my key chain. The little bar that is meant for this is so poorly placed that it will be difficult to get anything onto it. I’ll be using Instamorph to attach a small ring where the attachment bar is and then placing a larger snap ring onto that so I can then put it on my key chain. Just another example of poor design and not considering that a human being might actually want to put it on a key chain. At least the frustration free packaging proved to be true.
I purchased this to use with my Xbox 360 system because I was tired of playing Skyrim from the disc and I didn’t feel like paying twice as much for the Xbox branded memory stick from the same manufacturer. So Xbox warns you that you should only use their official products because the performance of “other” products might not be up to Xbox standards. When I first installed this on my system I received a warning stating that this was not up to snuff and that I might experience performance issues. All I can say is that I loaded Skyrim onto it and it’s been working fine for about a month. I particularly like the red led on the casing that flashes when the system is reading/writing. Anyone who has played Skyrim to higher levels knows that the loading time for screens can sometimes seem interminable and the light informs me that the system is still working (Skyrim has a tendency to lock up occaisionally).
Happy with the value of this flash drive however the data protecton software that came on it appears to have been already set up by someone else before it was sent to me & won’t let me use it. I have chatted online with SanDisk & finally just gave up on it. I am just using it without the free data protection software that was included & it works fine.
This is a very light weight flash drive. I wish it came with a hook or a hole to use a lanyard with it. My 11 year old needed a flash drive for school this year. He had no issues using it. He said he liked it. It was also 1⁄2 the price of the flash drives available at my local stores and those were only 8 GB. This one is 16gb.
by her husband: This was the lowest cost for 16gb. I don’t care that it has no cover over the end. Here is a different use idea. WANT LOW COST EASY RAM UPGRADE IN YOUR PC? Insert a USB memory stick. Format it to clean it off. Program it to be an extension to the system RAM. On an OLD PC laptop, that has 2GB ram when maxed out, that PC allowed me to program 4GB more using this memory stick. Now it is effectively 6GB. When shopping Amazon, scrolling down these picture and link intensive pages, it was jumpy and slow. Now it flies.
I strongly recommand to buy or find a string. I lost it right after a week and I have no clue. But it is a good product!
these work good for me. no problems — I appreciate your time and feedback. If you have found my review helpful, please click the “Thumbs Up” to let me know. Thank you!
Nice flash drive.I buy SanDisk and they never disappoint. It works well.
Not to bad for the price
Excellent
it cool
I use a lot of flash drives as a digital artist who has to worry less about smart storage and more about each of my creations having their own drive.
Insanely, unbelievably slow; like, incredibly slow; maybe 3-4mB/sec transfer at best? I’ve tried formatting, quick formatting, different computers, mac, PC, doesn’t matter;…
My new HP required “16 GB Flash Drive” to create a restore image. These 16 GB flash drives are only 14.5 GB making them useless as a 16 GB device.
