Not Optimized for Write Speed
Good read speed USB 3.0 over 100 [MB/s] But performed poorly on the write speed 27.76 [MB/s] SanDisk says the Ultra isn’t optimized for write speed and you should get the extreme version but I didn’t see that anywhere on the package.
Absolutely horrendous write speeds.
This product is so misleading. Simply put, I feel duped by SanDisk. The advertised 100 MB/s speeds are accurate…but only for read speed. Read speed is only half the story. SanDisk, you cannot advertise this as 100 MB/s when the write speeds are at USB 2.0 quality. Do not buy this if you are expecting 100 MB/s, or even 30 MB/s, write speeds, because this drive will disappoint you at USB 2.0 speeds (10MB/s). The stellar reviews on Amazon made me hopeful, but turns out you can’t expect too much from this flash drive. I have made sure all my drivers are installed correctly, so I know my computer’s USB 3.0 capabilities are running, as can be seen in the high read speeds. Even my generic local computer shop’s USB 3.0 flash drive had faster write speeds than this much more expensive drive.
Great Drive But Issue With Included Software
This SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive works exactly as you would expect it to. Transfers to and from the card seem to work quite quickly. The drive is about standard size, and like many others, has a slide button to slide the USB connector in and out. It also has a blue light that indicates readyness, and transfer activity. The drive is labeled in a way that makes it clear which side needs to be turned up for it to be inserted properly. (I hate drives that you have to try one way, and then the other, because you can’t tell simply by looking at them which side should be turned up.) Finally, there is a molded, hole, in the curve at one end, to allow the drive to be carried on a key chain.The one negative I found, which is the reason this is a four-star and not a five-star review has to do with the software on the drive. There is an executable that I believe has to do with drive security. When I ran it, it recognized that there was an update for the program, downloaded the update, but then the update would not run.I paid full Amazon price for this flash drive. I wrote this review just to try to help others learn a little about it. I hope you found this review helpful. I think the locking mechanism that is supposed to keep the drive retracted is broken, so the ring of the keychain keeps pushing the drive out. I used to have a 4 GB SanDisk keychain, and that one had a much better mechanism. Too bad I cannot use it as a keychain, and I have to dig into my backpack, then into my pencil case every time I have to submit an assignment or transfer some documents :/
Large storage @ a decent $ price!
Definitely FASTER than my older one, which is why I bought it and I needed a lot more room. The only thing I DON’T LIKE about it is, when you put your thumb on it to slide it back, the whole thing moves, FEEL WEIRD, they changed the design 😠which I don’t like as much, which is why I gave it a 3 instead of a 4 or 5.
Very nice little flash drive
Very nice little flash drive. Reformatted it to NTSF and put a 44.2GB file on it! Do a search for how to reformat your flash drive to NTSF and there are plenty of answers of how to do it. My HP computer did it with the programming already in it when I opened the properties of the flash drive. Simple change and was done in a minute with the full storage available. :)
Design flaw
This functions fine as far as the technical part but I bought it to keep on a key ring. The ring pushes on the back end of the retracted drive so it is not in the protected retracted position. Someone should have tested this. The idea was good but a key ring should not be able to push the drive out.
Fast USB Flash - Color me happy
I love this flash drive. Work on paperwork for our large subdivision and filled up a 64GB. Bought this one as a treat and it’s soooooo much faster than the old one. I could tell the difference right away. Think I’ll start replacing my older ones one-by-one. Always liked anything made by SanDisk.

Works as described and can fit a lot of data on usb drive. I would recommend to anyone who wants to put sensitive information or pictures on this drive to keep them safe.
