Warning: Potentially Counterfeit Units

I bought this card on Monday and it arrived Wednesday, 9/30/15. I bought it from Amazon, it said “Ships from and sold by Amazon.com”, and it’s the #1 best seller in microSD cards. The packaging seemed proper, but when I opened up the packaging and inspected the card, it looks obviously counterfeit. The detail in the printing is abysmal; while you would expect a 3 color screen printing process with sharp details and lines from the product photo, the item I received looked as though it had been labeled with a halftone CMYK printing process, which would make little sense if these were genuinely produced by SanDisk at a large volume. Even the packaging has higher resolution halftone printing with sharper details. There is also no “raised” or “indented” features on the back, which some people have pointed to as an indicator of a counterfeit. Attached are photos of the item I received next to a genuine Transcend unit, which has sharp lines and detail expected from a screen printing type process, taken from an iPhone 6 and from a digital microscope. If SanDisk could chime in and address this issue that would be good; are these wonky looking cards legit? Or, given that Amazon.com is an authorized reseller, is there a serious supply chain issue going on here?READ MORE

Counterfeit Card

This card is counterfeit. At first I had occasional issues where my Galaxy S5 would take a picture and I’d get a black picture instead of my pic. Then I had issues copying MP3s to the card. Then when I formatted it went form 64GB to 256GB RAW, and couldnt be formatted again. So I contacted SanDisk and they told me it’s counterfiet. I confirmed this with research online. You can tell yours is counterfiet if it:Was made in TaiwanThe grey is grainyThe red is pinkish, not dark red.READ MORE

32gb works great…buyer beware of the 128gb!!

I received this on April 2, 2015 for my Galaxy S5. Shortly thereafter, there was an OS update for the Samsung Galaxy S-series, following the release of the Galaxy S3 phones.I noticed that immediately after, the SD card lost all of the application data and was no longer storing new photos. I thought it was the OS, and since I was eligible for an upgrade, I traded in my S5 for a Note Edge.Well, guess what. It was not my phone. The SD 128 drive does not work in my new phone. I have a tablet with an SD 32gb disk, so I decided to do a little swapping and testing… the 32gb drive works in both devices but the 128gb is not recognized by either. Yes, I even backed-up the data and reformed the disk. What’s worse is that I’m writing this review on May 9th, 2015. EXACTLY 4 days after the expiration of the 30 day return period. Essentially, I lit $75 on fire…weeeeee. These 128gb drives go bad. Don’t get stuck like me and so many others. I have a 32gb and 64gb drive and both have worked flawlessly, and Ive had the 64gb drive for over a year. Do yourself a favor and just buy a smaller drive for a much more reasonable price.READ MORE

These have always worked perfectly, just be aware that they’re very small!

I’ve bought several of these over the last year and they always work very well. When used in a dash cam they many hold hours of video, and copying to and from these cards has always been flawless. While their small size is convenient in most ways, they’re smaller than my smallest finger nail and require a small amount of dexterity to handle. They are also VERY easy to misplace or lose! Still, the best way I’ve found to inexpensively hold tons of data for a small cost.READ MORE

Four Hours of HD Video Without a Glitch

I bought this microUSB memory card to use in a dashboard video camera that records 1080P at 30 frames per second. The speed of this memory was sufficient to record all of my videos without a single glitch. The capacity of this card is sufficient to hold about four hours of HD video.READ MORE

Transfer rate seems very slow

I’m a little disappointed in this card. I have numerous other SD and Micro SD cards, and literally ALL of them perform faster than this one. The transfer rate on it is just very slow. Even when plugged directly into my laptop, I can’t exceed 15-20MBps transfer. I’m using it in a phone, so once it’s there, and it’s all set up, it’s fine. But transferring 35GB of music onto it took AGES.Edit (3/12/14): The adapter this microSD card comes with is unconscionably bad. The write protection switch on the adapter is extremely flimsy, and mine seems to have broken (internally) in such a way that write protection cannot be disabled. A potato would be 100% as useful for connecting this to my computer.Edit (4/13/15): Per the company’s comment below, I contacted tech support and never heard back. After exactly the fifth use, the adapter has quite literally fallen apart. It is in two pieces. The “write protect” switch, which never functioned properly and caused NUMEROUS errors, fell out INSIDE my laptop, which took me ages to remove. Now, I cannot get the switch to go back into place in the broken adapter, so it always defaults to “write protect on” mode. Rating reduced to one star. This thing is garbage. The transfer rate is still stupidly slow, the card has access errors, the adapter has broken, and the tech support form did even less for me than writing this review. Seriously, just buy anything else. Literally any other brand.READ MORE
