Raspberry Pi 3 or Raspberry Pi 2 model B not included
This is an elegant and innovative protective case designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. Based on the best-selling SB Components’ Model B case this two-piece injection-molded ABS enclosure incorporates snap-fit mounting points that hold the Pi securely in place. It provides tough protection for the Raspberry Pi Model B+ along with access to all the PI consumer ports as well as DSI, camera and GPIO connectors.
Nice solid case with slots in all the right places. Just be sure to remove the SD card before assembly ;) And Assembly is a snap – literally! It has little feet, but I’ve never been able to get a Pi to rest flat on the table – the cables [Ethernet and HDMI] always lift it in the air, and for some strange reason, every Pi I own always seems to float upside down! It even has peg holes for mounting the Pi on a flat surface [dang, you can hang yer Pi, now!] – BUT, hanging the Pi will nearly cover the vent holes [the little feet mandate an ~40mil clearance], so if overclocked, probably best to keep an eye on it at first. I’m running a Pi at the default speed and the case isn’t even warm [but then, it wasn’t running much of anything when I did that]. Also, make sure whatever you use for the “pegs” has a thin enough head that it doesn’t contact the circuit board [unless it’s made of something non-metal, like nylon, for instance]. I suggest pan-head screws. And if they ARE made of metal, then adjust their height [so they’re not touching the traces, or components, on the printed circuit board] BEFORE applying power to the Pi.
Very nice. Has screw-mount holes underneath PCB. Also has hole for rasp-camera flat cable to protrude thru top of case. Very nice, well thought out. Snaps together and holds nicely; sturdy. Will buy more, if I don’t get the all aluminum case from Flirc first…nice being able to see-thru the case. Foolishly bought several of the original rasp pi 3 cases, which are shockingly flimsy, snap-together toy-like junkies with 5 individual pieces….pretty much the dumbest thing I’ve seen yet, really making rasp pi feel like a cheap toy. These cases, in contrast, are what should ship with RP3.
I ordered this because I’m just getting into Pi, and as it was my first Pi (Pi 2 B) I wanted to be able to see this neat little board that I waited what seemed like forever to get (back-order blues anyone?).That said, it does VISIBILITY very very well.HOWEVER, it’s a snap-together case, and the “snaps” are pretty weak. In fact, it seems as though the snaps just BARELY hold together. Very gentle prying (just handling) will separate any of the snaps without much force.Great if you need to get in and out of the case frequently, I suppose. But if you’re looking for something that won’t fly apart if you drop it onto carpet from a foot or more high, I’d recommend looking at another case.
I liked the idea of a clear case for my next RPi. The only problem with this case, that I can find, is that they did not include screws to pin down the RPi. The RPi does fit snuggly in the case. But I’ve had other RPi cases that came with screws and I liked them better.I did have some tiny computer screws laying around, but the problem with those is that they were, in the tiniest amount possible, just a little too large. So they ripped the screw holes apart on the case. I don’t plan on moving my RPi anywhere and reusing the case, so it won’t bother me too much since the RPi is currently snug.
I ordered this case for a proof-of-concept magic mirror project I developed for a demo at a tech conference. After trying several options (including hot-glueing the Pi directly to the mirror frame), I decided to get this case.I have a Pi 2, but, the slots all lined up perfectly, anyway. The plastic is nice and sturdy and relatively scratch resistant. There is a slot for inserting the camera (which I’m using on this project). You can easily attach leads to the interface connectors, but, I don’t think most HATs would work. There’s even a little window that makes it easy to remove and add the micro SD card. All of the connector holes are precisely positioned and just big enough to allow a good connection while still maximizing protection. My favorite feature of this case is the ability to snap the Pi in without having to attach with screws to the case. I have been doing some work on the prototype that has required a lot of moving about while reconfiguring the mirror and I’ve had to remove the Pi on several occasions after attaching the case to the mirror frame. All I had to do was unsnap it and snap it back in.Because I use hot glue in prototyping, I was worried that the case would melt, discolor or deform during the glueing process. It turns out that was no problem at all. I glued the case to the mirror frame and, now, I can snap the Pi in and out as needed without bothering the case.
This case works great.
Great for the Raspberry Pi B+, 2B or 3B, but not so great for the ASUS Tinker Board. The Tinker Board follows the same form factor as the Raspberry Pi3, so it was a surprize it…
Worked great for my pi arcade
Nice, works as advertised.
This case is easy to assemble as well as dissasemble. Also, gives plenty of access to GPIO pins, which is what I want. Very satisfied with it. Good value for your money.
Snaps on easily. Provides protection. Exactly what I wanted.
This is a tight fit, and I do mean tight, so as to not damage the pi, i just tossed it into my junk box
I tried a more expensive case that looked sleeker but turns out, didn’t for the Pi 3. This basic case does and snaps together easily. I returned the other case and kept this one.
Bought this a while back. Can do so much with it. Will buy again!
