Spring return is flimsy, but it’s half the price of anything similar so still a win!

As many reviews have stated, the spring mechanism is apparently not very stout. The little plastic stud that the lever is supposed to spring from was broken on mine at delivery. However, there’s no spring to set, it just uses a plastic tab, so I just tapped a tiny screw under the lever. Took about 15 seconds and probably much sturdier than the original stud. Aside from that, it’s not fancy but it will work great for my needs of either towing a flag or tying off to the boat anchor.

Slightly modified

I used it for a kayak anchor. It probably would have been fine the way it came, but 250+ feet of string (albeit heavy duty string), seemed like overkill for length and was a tad bit nervous trusting the heavy fishing kayak to the equivalent of 40lb test braided line. I removed the line, replaced with 50 feet of 3mm braided rope. First couple tests seem to work fine.

I don’t know how I got along without this, use it for my anchor system for my kayak.

Quality commesurate with the price!

Quality is commensurate with the price.Not bad at all, but most certainly not excellent.Not bad for the sport Diver doing the occasional wreck or short cave entry exercise, and using this as a back-up unit,but definitely not for serious exploration.The cheap and flimsy thumb release has to be the weak spot !

I do shore dives and must drag a flag. This is very easy to use. I highly recommend this. It is made well.

Good for a kayak

Good for a kayak. Solid construction but not super heavy duty. I switched the line to Paracord for an anchor and it holds about 50 feet of 275 Paracord perfectly.

Kayak anchor line

I really like this product for use as a kayak anchor reel. It has streamlined my anchor setup and is really easy to deploy. I have had no issues with durability and have had it in use approx six times so far. It seems to be well built and like I said before cant be beat for a kayak anchor line

This thing works great underwater and solid construction

This thing works great underwater and solid construction. The release mechanism is well made, easy to use, and sturdy. We use it for safety flotation deployment underwater. Would recommend this to others. Saved us money and was something solid we can use for years.

This is the worst line retractor ever

This is the worst line retractor ever. The design looks ok but the process of retraction is a pain, time consuming and too much friction. I would find a better scuba line.

Awesome for kayak anchor

Great reel to use for kayak anchor. The only thing you replace the line with a heavier line or para cord. No line mess for you to get all tangled up in.
