it works fine for what you use it for

Float is OK, it works fine for what you use it for, really what more can you ask. The material is heavy which reduces the chance of getting a leak in it. There is an attachment part on the bottom for your own rope. You can fill a bottom compartment with water or I used sand from the beach I was on to keep it upright in the water. The only thing I don’t like about it is the flag does not have a wire to keep it flying visible and I think the flag is too small for some states regulations. I guess I could get another flag but might just get a new float that I gives me more options like storing some gear, hanging a light or glow sticks, etc.

Great for skin divers, too

I am not a scuba diver but I am an avid snorkler. I dive in a lake with lots of boat traffic. I decided to use this device for my snorkel adventuring and it has paid off. One boat operator said he would have never noticed me in a small bay it weren’t for the highly visible float flag. So, this is a superb product, very affordable, a key part of my personal water-safety awareness, and extremely easy to transport.

Great for instructors!

This is ideal for use by instructors for small groups. It is sturdy, easy to inflate by mouth, and most of all very compact when deflated. This saves a lot of room and effort over the big inner tube floats.

RED WHITE AND SAFETY

This is a great idea that needs at least one safety modification. I did away with the banner saying a diver was below because in order to read it the boater would have to get within 10 feet of the float. I replaced it with four white stripes . making it similar to a dive flag. The float appears to be Vinyl so I used Vinyl paint from Home Depot. If you do likewise read the cleaning instructions on the can and make sure the masking tape it tight. Blow the float up as tight as you can get it. Chances are you will only be able to find Vinyl paint in a spray can. That’s O.K. just spray it into a container and use a paint brush to apply. It is quick drying. .Last time I checked a boater on a river had to stay 100 feet from a dive flag and on all other waters 300 feet. Since the only thing you need to operate a boat in many states is a down payment don’t expect them to know about that. Hope my modifications helps..

Good value buy but don’t plan on using long term

Although cheap quality plastic, the item does function as intended. Ensure that you fill the bottom with water (some kind of shower or hose works best). However we lost the flag on our last dive. I would spend a couple more bucks and get a single part flag float assembly if I was going to use it long term.

Used while snorkeling, works well

Works well. It’s hard to get the water in the bottom compartment to keep it upright, but the flag is very secure and it takes about 20 seconds if that to inflate. Definitely worth having the peace of mind while snorkeling in a busy area.

Very cool and portable.

I actually like this unit very much. I put sand in the bottom chamber to keep it righted. It was used in 1 to 2 foot seas without any problem. Very portable since the flag detaches. I could see where the flag might be able to “fall” out, but it would have to be pretty rough, too rough for me to go snorkeling.

Purchased these floats for Lobster season and for free diving …

Purchased these floats for Lobster season and for free diving. Flag falls off and does not stand above water. Kept falling over in the water and not standing upright. More of a hassle. Does not come with string to attach to the bottom of float.

Scuba and snorkel-worthy!

Other products would be better suited for both activities (dive and snorkel)

Warning this does not float upwardst by itself, you have to be pulling from beneath! The coast guard said it was “unsuitable” and we had stop snorkeling.
