The Best Radio They’ve Ever Made

I’ve been an XM radio subscriber for over a decade…since 2002 as a matter of fact. I’ve had many radios over that time. This is easily the best radio they’ve ever made. And it’s not even close.The good:- It has 20 presets; two banks of 10. I’ve found that to be more than enough.- Screen is bright, easy to read, and organized.- TuneStart. This alone is worth the purchase. After the radio has been running for a few minutes, whenever I tune to a station in my presets, it starts at the beginning of the song. It makes scanning around for music a far more enjoyable experience. You’ll never again find a song you want to hear and only be able to catch the last 30 seconds.- TuneMix. Start this mode and your radio will play one complete song from a random preset. After the song ends, it’ll change to another channel and play another complete song there. It works with most music channels and it’s an easy way to listen to a mix of all your presets. The best part of TuneMix is the ability to skip a song you don’t want to hear and simply jump to the next one.- Supports the Xtra/2.0 channels that only the newest XM radios can tune to. These channels have far better sound quality than the regular 1.0 channels.The bad:- If you’re an audiophile, XM may frustrate you. The standard 1.0 channels often sound compressed. The 2.0 channels sound much better, however.- Plug and play radio. The plus is that you can install it yourself. The downside is that since you’re doing it yourself, it won’t be as clean of an install as if the receiver was built into your car. Doesn’t bother me, but I could see some people wanting something more integrated.- FM Modulation. The FM transmitter can be weak. The signal is further degraded if you have multiple devices plugged into other outlets in your car (e.g. my iPhone charger). Luckily there is also an option for a direct connection via an AUX port.Overall:This is a fantastic radio. There’s a few shortcomings but they aren’t the fault of the radio itself. If you want SiriusXM, this is the radio to choose.

Looks Great and Sounds Awesome!!!

I had this satellite Radio installed at a local Best Buy. I chose the SiriusXM Select package. I am very pleased with the performance of this device. All channels are crystal clear and being able to rewind my favorite songs are a plus. There are several features that set this satellite apart from others. I love the 20 preset buttons for my favorite channels and the color screen looks great. The install was very clean and professional. The radio does not look like a cheap add on. It matches my interior perfectly. I strongly recommend a professional installation if you buy this radio. The sound quality is much better having this wired directly to your factory radio vs using the FM transmitter option. I have this installed my 2009 BMW X6 35i.

Good radio, but some things to look out for!

I had an older Sirius radio that was having problems with the power connector. We have used that radio in our home most of the time, and in a motorhome, a jeep and a car. It worked great.I ordered this radio and vehicle kit, and ordered a home docking kit so I would get the remote control and the home base for use at home.I definitely do like the radio’s feature, BUT it has one “INTERESTING FEATURE” to be aware of.When you plug the radio onto the home docking base, it DISABLES the internal FM transmitter. Therefore it cannot be used in the home to send out the FM signal so you can tune to it in different rooms in your house, or yard. It only puts out an audio signal and so it has to be sitting next to a stereo system or something with an audio input. Therefore it is tied to one room!When the radio is plugged into the vehicle docking base the FM transmitter is enabled and it works like our older one did. You can use it in vehicles, boats, at home, anything with an FM radio. The only problem is that the power connector on the vehicle docking base is not compatible with the AC-DC adapter that powers the home docking base. So only a 12 V cigarette lighter style 12 V source will work with the adapter that does plug into the vehicle docking base.I currently am using the vehicle docking base in the house and I have a AC to 12 V adapter that actually goes to my electric cooler, so that I can power the radio from AC.I have now ordered a seperate AC to 12 V adapter just to run the radio in the house. Kind of a pain in the you know what and I could find no documentation that explains that until I downloaded the full user manual.

Best Stereo for listening to SirusXM radio

Best Stereo for listening to SirusXM radio. I have not listed to anything else since I installed this in my car. Can easily take the unit out of your car for security reasons.

The set sucks..

I don’t know if the problem is with the boom box or the radio….but both are getting the same review. The set sucks…I can not listen to the radio.

XM receiver…

Don’t have timed shutoff.Otherwise very good.Last receiver was 13 yrs old.

Sad disappointment.

Now it’s for sale. IF you’d like to buy it, let me know. I could not figure out how to install the antenna. It’s magnetic and our roof is fiberglass.

Sirius onyx plus issue.

Receiver died after 75 days of use. 15 days past return window, 1st unit bought from sirius lasted a year this one less,

Not a good buy

I’ve had this unit for awhile and it’s just not what I wanted. First, the power adapter is HUGE and sticks so far out of the dash it would eventually get broken off.
