Amazon.com The Hit-A-Way Jr. batting trainer is the fun and safe way for children to develop their batting skills. It’s construction mirrors that of the SKLZ adult swing trainer, the Hit-A-Way, but brings it down to youth proportions. The Hit-A-Way Jr. sets up in seconds and easily converts to a tee with two different height options, giving your future all-star two ways to have fun. Start your little one by hitting a ball on the T-Ball stand, then graduate them to getting comfortable swinging the Neoprene bat and hitting the moving ball. The tethered ball simulates real pitches and develops hand-eye coordination, balance, and timing in both right- and left-handed batters.

Product Reviews

Does the job with adult supervision

My 6 year old wants to learn to hit the ball. I want something that can be placed indoors that he can practice. With mixed reviews, I still decide to give it a try.The reviewers are right in that the material is cheap. The base must be filled with water to provide some level of stability. The pole is assembled from three pieces. The pieces can be assembled in different order as well as in reverse, therefore provide additional height options depending on your kids size and the desired hitting zone (higher or lower). When the ball is properly spun or hit, it will come back in a good location faithfully. However, if the ball is not hit solidly (e.g., tipped or awkward swing), the ball will not come back right. This is where the kid need to re-spin the ball around the post, or an adult if the kid is too young to do it him/herself.There is a another adjustment that needs attention: the rope that holds the ball. The rope can be pulled back and forth to allow fine-tuning the height and distance adjustments. It has a small wrap to keep the adjustment in place. However, after the child hits the ball a few times, the rope/ball adjustment will need to happen again. This is more work from the supervising person, which can be adult or older kid.Overall, it does it’s job to help a kid learn how to hit. But it’s not something that one can leave the child alone doing it all by him/herself as the rope/pole need constant re-adjustments.

Straight out of the box- I put it together- my 5 year old took one swing and instead of hitting the ball he hit the hard plastic splice that hold the 2 part post together. It splintered the splice into 4 pieces. Yup, first swing!!!! My son immediately threw a spoiled brat fit. Instead of returning it I went to the hardware store to the plumbing section and purchased a flexible pvc coupling. That did the trick. It’s an ok tool to help a kid get their timing and to keep their eye on the ball!!!

Don’t buy!

My 5 yo hurt the stand instead of the ball by accident and it crack the stand on the first day. Very cheap plastic. I’m not that impressed.

For a toddler?

It’s a toddler practice product. If that’s your intent great, if not keep looking. Its short in height and not great for one person. The ball is very close to the yellow tube.

Broken

Every piece of this toy is already broken. My son swung and hit the ball once and the wire holding the ball at the bottom snapped off. On his second swing the bat made contact with the post and the bat snapped in half. I would appreciate a refund.

Piece of crap broke within 5 mins 😡 I would give it no stars if that was a option

Not well made

Didn’t holdup too well, but grandson enjoyed it while it lasted! Made of plastic, so guess you get what you you pay for! Bought it for a birthday gift.

Don’t waste your money

The Cable that holds the ball is too short and the bat broke within 2 days. Very cheaply made. Big disappointment to the children.
