The performance specific internal components of Skyjackers shocks respond to the on and off-road conditions instantly. Whether you are going over rough or smooth terrain at slow or fast speeds, the true velocity sensitive valving produces a stable, controlled level of resistance for better handling, improved stability, and maximum comfort. The technological innovations of these durable, long lasting shocks from Skyjacker deliver a noticeable advantage over the original equipment and other shock dampeners. Skyjackers shock absorbers deliver a safe, comfortable ride with improved handling and stability. They keep the tires in contact with the terrain and put you in control of the road ahead.
I just installed these on a 1995 Jeep Wrangler (06/2016). They improved the ride quite a bit. I was replacing what looked like the exact same shock (Skyjacker Hydro 7000), but these were a bit longer body than the ones I had on before. They fit. The install was very easy to do even with my stuck rusty bolts. It took me about 3 hours only because of the stuck bolts. One bit of advice is to Kroil or PBBlaster your bolts everyday from the day you order these. By the time they arrive, your bolts will more likely be unstuck. I did some research because the ones I was replacing were installed with the boot side down. I assumed the shocks were worn out and giving me a bad ride. However, I read that these shocks need to be installed boot side up or they cause a very rough ride. Many shocks don’t care which way they are installed, but apparently, these do. Install BOOT UP! I’ll try to remember to update this review as the shocks age.
Item as advertised and arrived very quickly! Was a perfect fit and easy to install. Don’t pay a mechanic, you can bolt these on easily. The shocks come with nice bushings but without the bushings installed in the mounting eyes. The easiest way to put them in is to use a couple drops of dawn dish washing liquid and a hand squeeze adjustable bar clamp, the pop right in with minimal effort. You don’t want to oil them as oil may break down the material of the bushing.
Picked these up for my 2003 Ford Excursion. Had gas charged Monroes that were too harsh a ride on the street. These hydraulic shocks smoothed the ride out significantly. Only criticism is that the urethane bushings must be pressed in prior to installation - it is my understanding that most shocks now come this way. I sprayed with silicone, started to press in with a bench vice and then ended up using a 3# hammer to persuade them in the rest of the way.
These shocks do not do well on my 99 Ford Super Duty even though they came up on the application guide. Not happy with them at all. Live and learn I guess.
Improved ride quality on my 1995 YJ with 2.5” lift.
Fit great! Great delivery.
Superb, must have in 4x4. These are really good for off rode and street. They are soft, improve maneuverability and handling while off roading. In street are soft and comfort.
Replaced older shocks of unknown age and brand in my new-to-me 1976 Jeep CJ5. Easy install after hitting all the bold with PB Blaster.
I SHUOLD”VE got the BIGGER SHOCKCKS
Didn’t really change ride as much as I had hoped
