Great crooked hat! (Edited)
The seller replaced this hat, great customer service! The new hat’s mount is straight works perfect for what i needed.Original review: It’s a nice hat, fits nice too. However the mount on the front is crooked to the point where I have to tilt my head to get the picture to be straight. It’s a shame too, other than the mount being sewn 1⁄4” lower on one side it would have worked perfect for what I needed. It is the first and probably the last Smatree product I buy. Please note, on the picture I drew the yellow line as a reference to the seam in the hat and center on the mount.
Much better than headstrap mounts
I had previously purchased a head lamp style holder for the go pro but I really hate how that feels on my head. So I saw this product and thought i’d much rather wear a hat instead of a head lamp. I had a bit of a challenge hooking it on. I think I just had the connector upside down. Being new to GoPro, I wasn’t used to the connectors or how to use them on various attachments and accessories.Once I got it hooked up, it was pretty cool. I could walk around and get the benefits of a hat (which I always wear) blocking out the sun, not leaving my head exposed for sunburn, etc. The headstrap mounts are useless in the sun in my opinion.Overall I though this was one of my better accessories for the Gopro. I’m glad someone was very creative here in coming up with a cool way to attach a gopro instead of the countless headstraps.
Awesome product
This thing is great! I played with it a little bit today and I can tell it will be used alot throughout this year’s bass tournaments! The photo is a screenshot of what the camera sees. As you can see the brim of the hat stays completely out of the picture and it makes a nice stable video platform!
Why didn’t GoPro think of this…
Made well has velcro adjustment and is comfortable. The GoPro mount is a little crooked. Seller sent me another and it’s a little crooked too. So you can buy from these guys they are legit. The manufacturer may have dished out a bad batch. Overall this is pretty close to a must buy if you own an action cam and want to be hands free casually wearing a hat. The brim does not get in the shot even in super view unless you point it down quite a bit. I put my session on it and it’s an awesome combo. I also put my Cube and it is fantastic. It’s the lightest of them all. Having a GoPro with a frame case is not bad. When you have a GoPro in the WP housing you can feel the weight just a tad but it’s not uncomfortable. I don’t know why GoPro hasn’t thought of this. They would probably charge an arm and a leg like they do all their accessories LOL. This is solid product and I recommend it. You will especially enjoy this with the Session or Cube and even the Mobius.
Decent Hat
Well built hat and adjusts easily and fits well. Kind of difficult to make sure the Go Pro is at the right angle though. I took a lot of pictures of the sky because I had the hat tilted too far back on my head.
Awesome
Hat worked perfect. Use parasailing and jet skiing. I did use some hat clips to be safe but not once did the hat come loose. Also received lots of comments on it and questions were I purchased it. Great product.
Bad Quality Control (Edited)
(Update 4/2/16 the manufacturer reached out to me after this review and quickly made everything right. They shipped me a new hat which is well put together. My harsh review of this product has now changed because I find that great customer service such as this can improve the overall experience. They could have easily left it as is and ignored my review but they didn’t. The quality of the product they sent me is excellent and everything I originally expected. I now recommend this product and other smatree products because I know they will back their products.)I am very disappointed in this item. As seen in the pictures the clip for the GoPro is crooked. This is a very simple item which means they have little to 0 quality control. For a 20+ dollar hat I would expect better quality control. The rest of the hat is good but the main reason to buy this is for the clip to attach the go pro.This is the second item I have received from Smatree that hasn’t been up to expectations. The first was a double suction cup stand which only suctions properly on one side.
It’s fun and useful
It’s fun and useful. The fun part is the interaction with people, the useful part is I can take multiple angles video when I use 2 action cams.
