Simple, solid install for Sonos Playbar

There’s really not a whole lot to say about this. If you want to mount your Sonos Playbar to a wall, this is pretty much your only option. Fortunately, it’s also a very good option. It provides enough mounting holes that you should be able to mount it to studs in just about any place where you have standard stud spacing. In my case, the place I needed to mount it happened to be the one place in the room where the builder opted to play fast and loose with stud spacing, making it impossible to mount to two studs in the area where I wanted the Playbar. No worries, the mount kit also includes wall anchors, so you can mount it into drywall alone if you need to.The mount kit also includes a small level to help ensure that you get the mount plate installed correctly, but I found that the level I received was inaccurate. It would give different readings based on which side of the level you used, so there was really no way to know which side was correct. It’s a nice gesture to include it, but if you already own a proper level, I’d recommend using that instead. Finally, it’s important to note that the mounting orientation is different depending on whether you’re mounting the Playbar above or below your TV, and the mounting orientation is sort of the opposite of what you’d expect. Mounted below the TV, the power and optical cables from the Playbar exit from the bottom, and mounted above the TV, the cables exit from the top (i.e., in either orientation, the Playbar cables are naturally pointing away from the TV). This is to ensure that the speakers in the Playbar are firing in the correct direction (more up if below the TV, more down if above the TV). This could cause some issues with cable routing, but fortunately the Playbar and wall mount kit take steps to sufficiently address this. When wall-mounted, there is enough room behind the middle of the Playbar to route your cables; so even though the cables are naturally exiting away from the TV, you can still route them back behind the Playbar and toward your TV. I was a little worried about having to do this with the optical cable, since they don’t usually handle sharp bends well, but this setup provides sufficient room to make that u-bend gently enough. All in all, if you’ve got a Playbar and you want to put it on the wall, this is the thing you need.

and it’s easy to mount to your wall

No complaints with the product itself- does exactly what it is supposed to, and it’s easy to mount to your wall. Only complaint is the price tag- $40 for a simple piece of plastic with a couple of metal studs… considering the fact that you can get far more “complicated” mounts for huge flat screen TVs for $15-25, it seems like a bit of a rip-off to have to pay $40 for this simple thing. I guess that’s the price you pay for having nice SONOS stuff, though.

Well thought through.

I finally got around to mounting the soundbar, figured it was going to be a pain and it was easy enough to leave the bar laying on the table in front of the TV. I open up the box, and fairly quickly I can see that this is another thing from Sonos that is well thought through. First, they provide a template that is exactly the same size as the soundbar with markings for all of the possible center locations you might want to use. All you have to do is tape it up, stand back, measure if you want to be that accurate and punch the locator holes with a screwdriver. Second, you see four sets of slots for each of the four locations for the screws. This is because if you want to really mount this to the studs, you may not have an even spacing between the studs from where you are locating this in the room. Third, and this I think is just what you get with high quality stuff, the back of the wall mount has sponge rubber on it, so it wont mar the wall and will minimize the vibrations/sound artifacts you might get from the speaker vibration. All in all, another well thought out component from Sonos. (for the record, I taped the template upside down because Sonos looks the same upside down as it does right side up, still worked fine.)

Well Made Template Included. Makes Wall Mounting a Breeze.

I have found the Sonos products to be top quality. They are my new favorite speaker products. No longer do I need to pre-wire houses for multi-room audio. The Sonos line of speakers eliminates that. All that is needed is A/C power. The wall mount bracket is just as well made and packaged as the speakers are! Included is a full size hard cardboard template and mini level. The level was accurate when using 2 sides of it, but the 2 other sides were out. Since there were no orientation markings on it, I used my torpedo level instead. If you are going to use the included level just make sure to turn the level vial 180 degrees to verify the mount is level before drilling holes in the wall. Try rotating the level vial and using a different one of its four sides. Once you mark the screw holes thru the template onto the wall, it is easy to secure the wall mount. It is made of a high quality metal with a powder coated finish. It has 2 knobs on either side of it that stick out and will be used to secure the speaker via the keyhole slots on the back of the speaker. With the speaker oriented with the Sonos logo on the bottom of the speaker, I needed the cables (power & Fiber Optic) to go up to the flat panel TV. The way the speaker mounts does allow the cables to fit behind the speaker and on top of the mount. So don’t worry if your speaker wires need to go up the wall or down, they will fit between the speaker and this mount without any problems.5 star quality product all the way. Worth the price.

well designed mount

Not that there are options when it comes to the playbar mount, but this thing is great! The template made it really easy to lay out the screw locations, and it even came with a level! I used my own screws, and screwed in to studs. It took longer to figure out where to put it than to install it.

Expensive for what you are paying for but works as advertised

Expensive for what it is as other reviewers pointed out however; with the price of the soundbar knowing this wall mount was engineered properly for it was why I spent the extra and went with it.
