I have nothing but good things to say about this camera. I have owned my Sony A6000 for just over a year now and it has been nothing short of perfect. I am a beginner photographer and it has taken high-quality, professional photos. The basic lens is limited in terms of the scope of photography but it has taken excellent basic landscape and people photography. I purchased an additional lens to take night photography and this camera has been amazing. I’ve attached some of my pictures below. If you’re a beginner photographer looking to get into either landscape or portrait photography, this is the camera for you! It’s smaller and lighter than most DSLRs and it’s very intuitive to learn the settings and controls.
Is the Sony Alpha a6000 worth buying 2017? What should I know before spending 500+ dollars? As others have said this is a phenomenal entry camera with the most bang for its buck professionally. There are photographers who still ONLY use this camera in 2017. In fact, there are many youtube videos benchmarking this with other models that are 5 times to 11 times the price, and the conclusion is the Sony a6000 because of how well it performs relative to its costKey Features:● Great landscape shots with a high dynamic range. If the scene is well lit you will get a beautiful shot.● Forgiving for beginners.● Advanced enough to crank out gorgeous footage ( There is community made luts to give the appearance of SLOG2 or SLOG3, which are video formats of even more high-end cameras. Useful for color grading.● Huge community of users to solve many problems that may arise.● Great history of performance since its debut.● Any lens you buy is reusable for future cameras in the Sony Ecosystem. Spend money on nice lenses and plan to upgrade camera bodies since bodies are kind of like cell phones. Future upgrades could be the A7ii or the A6300.VIDEOThis is still a good option for shooting videos depending on your use case. I was introduced to this camera from recommendation from a travel vlogger. The YouTubers who use this, do so because of the small form-factor, versatility, great outdoor visuals and quality per dollar. For indoor vlogging, this camera needs a bit of help. For starters, the screen doesn’t reticulate fully, and although it’s possible to frame shots with taking pictures through the PlayMemories app, it doesn’t actually do video through the app. This means you will need an add-on screen OR to get a newer model such as the a6300 which shoots 4k video and DOES support the PlayMemories Video record feature for seeing yourself on a smartphone while recording.AUDIOThe camera comes with serviceable audio, but I would definitely recommend one of Amazon’s most popular external microphones lapel mics OR upgrading the stock audio with one of the few microphones compatible with this camera. That’s right. This camera does NOT have an audio input jack so the audio options are limited. You can see a comparison of the quality of mics for this camera by googling” 4 Different Mic Sounds: sonya6000” At 1:19. I love this camera. I got it on January 09, 2015. I immediately noticed how fast it drained the battery. It was even draining the battery overnight with the camera turned off, so I ordered 2 additional batteries and a charger. And I got in the habit of taking out the battery when I wasn’t using the camera. I’m an engineer so I immediately started looking online for a remedy in various forums and conducting experiments to find out what was draining the battery so fast. After a lot of digging with no solution, I was going through all the menus one day and stumbled across Airplane Mode???Sony a6000 battery drain mystery solved!!! Turn Airplane Mode On! The a6000 supports Wi-Fi transfer of photos and videos to SmartPhones, Computers and other Wi-Fi devices. The default setting is Airplane Mode Off which drains the battery even with the camera off because it is always looking for nearby Wi-Fi devices. The solution is to turn Wi-Fi Off by turning Airplane Mode On. Only turn Airplane Mode Off when you want to send photos/videos to another Wi-Fi device. Then turn Airplane Mode On again as soon as you have finished sending. Problem solved.
I bought this as my first interchangeable lens camera. I’ve used/handled Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras and I prefer the A6000 to them because the Sony interface is intuitive and I…
Sick cam
Came without the kit lens even though I clearly ordered it with that configuration.
I haven’t been doing too much photographing in the past few years but this camera is pretty easy to use.
The a6000 is great… I love the camera. I bought it in a package deal with 2 lenses. The 16-50 kit and the 55-210.
Has turned out to be a really great camera for beginners. If I get overwhelmed by the options, I just used the auto setting. Takes wonderful quality photos.
excellent camera for this money
Best entry level camera out there. Perfectly sized with incredible image quality
takes amazing high quality photos and videos!
