    Product Description

The HXR-NX100 comes with Sony’s unique 20 mega pixel 1.0-type Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor that delivers high resolution and fantastic low light performance, as well as offering more depth of field control as demanded by today’s diverse shooting requirements. Three independent manual lens rings provide excellent creative control. A fixed Sony G series lens achieves 12x optical zoom, which can be doubled to 24x with Clear Image Zoom making use of the 1.0 type sensor to still deliver a native resolution 1920x1080 image. You can also double the zoom again using a sophisticated Digital Extender for a maximum 48x zoom. There is also a ND Filter function, allowing you to choose four conventional mechanical ND filter positions that will enhance your ability to work in any shooting scenario.

Great camcorder

Awesome camcorder so far did have an issue the first time using it outdoors for a while it wouldn’t focus right but I think it was the major humidity I was in. I let it set our for a while the next day before firing it up and it worked great. Trying to get to doing more manual settings than relying on the full auto, but what’s great about this camcorder is there is individual rings for focus zoom and iris and also a button to remove auto on each. As an example you can still have auto focus but manual iris control. Love this camcorder though…now to get it paid for!

I will buy again!

Super Cam!

Five Stars
this is an excellent choice for indoor

I only gave it 4 stars simply because of hand shake. I’m still new to the camcorder and used to another model with floating lens which removes any and all shakiness while filming. Other than that, if you don’t need 4K, this is an excellent choice for indoor, outdoor and studio shoots using a tripod. It shoots great! in low light conditions as well. I’m extremely pleased with it.

The receipient could not have been happier and said it was a wonderful gift

gave this as a gift for Christmas. The receipient could not have been happier and said it was a wonderful gift. PS he is going into producing in college so needed this to do some films.

Ready to get serious about video? This is a good upgrade from a consumer camcorder

Purchased from another seller with warranty for the same price, so be careful here. As to the camcorder, if you are looking for a logical next step up from a compact camcorder, this is worth thinking about. I’ll get this out of the way first: This is a very high quality HD camcorder. It is not a 4K camcorder. A 4K camera with this feature set, add another $1,000.So, without writing a novel, you get a 1” sensor which rewards you with great low light performance and superb depth of field control for those creative blurry backgrounds. You can run it auto-everything, or manually control any aspect of the camera (focus, iris, gain, etc..) manually, or control everything manually. You get a variety of input/output options… XLR for microphones, composite out, HDMI out, LANC control, etc… but no SDI. You have to go further up the food chain for that. This camcorder model is still fairly new and there are not a lot of reviews. I put nearly 3 months into researching camcorders in this category and this ended up being the one. The only solid negative I have heard is that the viewfinder (eyepiece in the rubber cup) is barely large enough to use. I don’t even use it in my configuration, but the viewfinder is smaller than most, by measurement. If you wanted to go beyond this, then your next stop would be something with interchangable lenses (this lens is permanently fixed), or something 4K.4 MONTH UPDATE: I have received some comments on my review and so I’m going to do a little update. I have about 100 hours of use on it (there is a readout for this). After some time in the field, I have to say that getting deep bokeh out of this camera is challenging because the lens is not that fast. I’m getting good results, but it just takes more effort than I would like. I looked around and I still don’t see a better HD camcorder in this price range, so still highly recommended. You will need class-10 memory cards, 64GB in order to use the better file formats, so be sure to budget for that.6 MONTH UPDATE: I had a funny little problem worth talking about. I was filming a person standing about 5 feet in front of a wall and accidently left auto zoom on. And, even though I was on a tripod and the subject was standing still, the auto zoom hunted back and forth between the subject and the wall. I did not realize auto zoom was on…. I never use it. A fix for this is probably the facial recognition feature that allows you to select a face to target the focus. This could be a limitation for people who want to use this camcorder in a dynamic setting.

Good camera for the price.

Camera is outstanding. The only issue I have is the small screen. I had a couple issues where I thought I was in focus but it wasn’t.

Sony Missed the mark on this one

The autofocus is very slow and easily confused by subtle changes in light and slight movement of subjects.

Placing it on a tripod isn’t bad. Found it awkward to hold up to my …

To heavy and bulky. The eye piece is hard to look through so when you use the screen you need support it with left hand if holding it and the focus ring gets moved often if not…

Just a little too stripped down

I was hoping this camera would fit well into a production business that uses primarily the Sony PXW-Z150, since they are extremely similar products.

A good Camera

Its small light effecient. Dual record modes a nice option. Bought it for a friend so i dont have it anymore.

Five Stars
