Product Reviews

Clear drop in quality. Save your money.

This new Sony NW E series is terribly disappointing. Like the previous reviewer, I purchased this to replace my NWZ S544 model which was awesome! This new model is a clear ploy by Sony to increase their profit margin. I paid 74.99 (like I did for my previous Sony) and have LESS features. The reason why I stayed with Sony rather than buying an iPOD is that Sony is known for producing great sounding mp3 players. This new one doesn’t even cut it. The sound is terrible, you can’t adjust anything until you turn the bass boost off. They ditched the some of the clear audio technologies. The color display looks cheap and old, sounds terrible with headphone, sounds terrible when I hook up in my car, just awful. Perhaps I should cough up more money and buy another Sony product that I can’t get in retail stores, or purchase an ‘sigh’ iPOD. Get your act together Sony! You guys dropped the ball on this one. I’m returning this for my money back!

Seriously reconsider your purchase

This product is by and large a piece of junk. Like most reviewers here, I purchased this unit to replace an older Sony mp3 player that had been very reliable over several years. I was disappointed to see there wasn’t an updated version of those older players - something with 32 or 64gb considering the price of components has dropped so much. But what Sony have done is reduce the quality of the build, remove features, mess with what was a very intuitive interface and ultimately sell an inferior unit with poorer sound quality and usability than previous products. I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I agree with the other reviewers that Sony is no longer a company to be associated with quality audio products - whoever signed off on this Walkman was only concerned about the bottom line (perhaps for the mid-tier Asian markets). I will use this unit until I find a better product at a similar price point, and I will not make the mistake of buying another Sony device without thoroughly researching it and checking recent reviews first. Sony - you used to be world renown for your audio. Now you’re just known for ripping your customers off.

Disappointing downgrade from the earlier version, which was a great little product

For people who want JUST a music player, our choices are lousy. I teach dance. I don’t want to use my phone for my music player, I want a small, dedicated device. A previous model of the Walkman player was great, and even played video. Although both my Walkman mp3 players have music copied from my iTunes directories, somehow the menu is not the same on this device as on the other, so I’m having some issues finding things. How this occurs, I have no idea, but it’s a pain. It doesn’t play video, which is not critical but would be nice to have. But my biggest beef is that, when plugged into a sound system, the volume is not great. Not up to the level of my older Walkman, or my old Nano. A big disappointment on many levels.

It works very well and is super easy to use

It works very well and is super easy to use. But 4 Gigs is too small for me, and that means its too small for pretty much everyone else.

Was perfect but stop working today

Was perfect but stop working today. What I can do it?Can I have other and exchange or pay something, is no one year of use.

MP3 is hard to beat

MP3 player is great to have so you don’t use up all of your phone storage of you don’t have unlimited internet/storage. Holds tons of music

Quality player

Quality, yet basic mp3 player. It’s menu is pretty good though the battery life is not as good as the manual describes. Like a good car, it gets the job done but there are better options on the market.

Sound is great. Would recommend

simple to operate but at the same time it has many functions. Sound is great. Would recommend. I replaced an ipod shuffle for this Walkman, happy I did.

Disappointed - bring back Sony NWZ-E344!

Was disappointed that I am not able to do on this Sony Walkman what I am able to do on my Sony NWZ-E344 ( why was it discontinued?

easy to

It was a direct replacement to the one I damaged. Plenty of storage, easy to use

One small change, that’s all I want

Dear Sony; This Walkman wold be perfect with one change: either add an SD card slot so it would be expandable to 128Gb, or, since 128Gb of flash memory has a consumer cost of…

Awesome running buddy!!

Arrived quickly and is great quality!! Easy to download music on to!

Three Stars

ok

This is utter garbage. Comparing it to my former E464

Sony Walkman E394 SeriesI bought this to replace a Sony Walkman E464 I bought five years ago. At that time the E464 cost $AUD 113 in inflation-adjusted terms.

Worthy successor to previous Sony models.

I got this Sony Walkman (16 gb) to replace my older model that was only 4 gigs. That and I think that the battery was failing on the old one as it would only hold a charge for…

Works fine for what is

Works fine for what is. Previously had the Sony NWZ‑E354 but lost it. That unit seem to have more power, and a more sensitive FM tuner.

I like it, but it has some inconveniences

To be honest, I love having a small, long battery device devoted only to music. This was my first final jump off of Apple, as this Walkman replaced my iPod touch.

Five Stars

Love it!
