Enjoy remote access to your Sony α Alpha & NEX digital camera with this wireless remote commander.
Works as advertised with my Sony a6300. Each button mimics what’s on the camera body. My only peeve is I wish Sony had their IR receiver in the back of their cameras as well, so that this remote would work when I’m behind the camera outdoors.
I was originally on the fence about purchasing this as I thought i was a bit pricey for $30. But once I got it, I find it to be worth it. It’s designed specifically for Sony Cameras and it works well with my A6300. The range on this is great and I can use it behind the camera with no problem.I’m able to use all the buttons and they are very functional. The buttons for the video portion works well if you have the camera hooked up to your tv or monitor.
I bought this remote to use as I record videos so I can zoom in and out as needed. It works very well with my A6300. Its a Sony remote so expect this to work flawless with your Sony camera. Also don’t forget to enable remote in your settings before it will work as I found this out later.
The remote works greats, but there are two things to consider if you’re just looking for a remote trigger.First, some companies make third-party remotes that work just as well for triggering the shutter, for a lot less. If you don’t need the extra controls on the Sony remote, these may be a better option. For example: Opteka RC-3 Wireless Remote Control for Sony Alpha A33, A55, NEX-5, A230, A330, A380, A390, A450, A500, A550, A560, A580, A700, A850, A900 (RMT-DSLR1 Replacement)Second, at least on my NEX-6, there is an IR receiver on the front but none on the back. That makes the remote less useful as a remote trigger for use with a tripod. That’s the camera’s fault, of course, and not the remote’s, but worth considering if you’re looking for a remote trigger.
The remote apparently works fine. The only thing I noticed is that with the A-33 DSLR, there are only a couple of buttons on the remote that work. I have not yet, however, tried it for video playback. I was hoping that the remote would also access the camera’s menu system but that did not work. Regardless, I bought it primarily for remote shutter release, and it works perfectly for that. The remote was apparently DOA on arrival, but I had a spare battery on hand and she’s working just fine now.
Works as expected with a wide range of Sony Alpha cameras, including some of the NEX/E-mount models.PRO:-IR, so no cabled shutter release needed-supported by many different models, so you only need one of these.-small enough to tuck into your bag or pocket and forget about it until you need it.CON:-none really-some functions only work in one mode or another, but this seems intuitive.-somewhat expensive.
Works perfectly with Sony A7r with the following functions (the ones that I have used):- Menu access scrolling/selection- Shutter release- Video record start/stop- Display toggleI know it might be obvious to some but this remote is IR so you must be in front of the camera for this to work. If you have used the smartphone app you can trigger the camera from anywhere (not just in front). Probably a no brainer for most but thought I would mention it here.
Works as advertised with my Sony a6000, a6300, A7S and A7Sii. Each button mimics what’s on the camera body. My only problem is I wish Sony had their IR receiver in the back of their cameras as well, so that this remote would work when I’m behind the camera outdoors.
I’ve just receive this remote this morning and it works great on my Sony a6500 with 18-105g lens.As you can see on the picture I had the opteka but it only works on taking…
Works like a charm. Take the battery out if you’re not going to use it for a while.
Been wanting one of these for a while now. A must have item for shooting stills. It will be a permanent part of my camera bag!
This works great! Have an A6300 and A77 and it will start movie recording or fire photos on both. Would be awesome if I could hold down the photo button and have it fire 12 fps…
This thing has made life easy with my camera!
Works great with a6000.
Works great, both front and back. I do a lot of tripod work and really appreciate not having to touch the camera.

if you’re mainly looking to shoot stills, this remote does nothing that the cheaper two button remotes do.
