Enjoy 4K HDR entertainment on our X940E with Android TV. With a full-array backlight and ten times the dynamic range, this television offers dazzling contrast in an ultra-thin design. And with the incredible performance of the 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme, everything you watch is improved to near 4K HDR quality.
OK, six grand is not chicken feed so you expect a good picture. I think a true rating would be 4.6 stars. So 5 was as close as I could get.I looked at and researched a lot of TVs.I was replacing a 65” 2014 Samsung HU8550 w/ 2015 evelution kit. So a very fine TV in it’s own right.I wanted 75” and HDR as that is where the 4K movies have gone. This TV does not disappoint! It is paired with s new Sony STR-DN1080 receiver and a Sony UBP-X800.A 4k HDR movie is stunning, even blu ray and DVD content is processed and creates an absolutely beautiful picticure.Clarity in fast moving scenes is the best I have seen.I am glad I chose the 940E over the 900E. Granted a $1700 choice with the 900E being priced at $4300. Still the additional processing power I think pays off.I am truly pleased with the purchase!A very fine TV. In a dark room, in a light room it does equally well.Early tech reviews stated that the only real flaw is the relatively shallow viewing angle. Stating that more than 20 degrees off center the picture began to decline (blacks not as deep, etc.). I find it to be almost perfect to 35 degrees. If you are looking for a 75” TV this one is very hard to beat. This is s great set. G
Update 9/17/17- Sony tV returned back to amazon, we received the LG E7 OLED TV and the LG is the leader in picture quality in both 4K and even when playing 1080p or lower the LG is superior. I would recommend the LG E7 65 inch, see my review at the LG E7 amazon listing to see my video and review on it.So we replaced our Samsung Q7 LED TV with this Sony X940E LED TV and the picture is nice when you watch 4K but I do notice that colors on the Sony are not as Colorful even after calibrating it through the Vivid Setting and also the Custom Setting. if you watch any resolution below 1080 on this TV, the quality is terrible, the TV does not do a good job of upscaling in my opinion, in my past experience with Samsung TV’s, Samsung has better picture quality when it comes to LED TV’s but then again the Samsung TV’s have issues with Ghosting or Halos from the LED’s.I will say the black levels on this TV are really good for a LED TV though.I also do not like the Android TV on the Sony, it is very very laggy, even when you turn the volume up and down and you are watching the built in apps such as Amazon Prime video, Netflix or even Playstation Vue, the TV would freeze because it is trying to bring up the volume bar in the bottom corner, The TV also freezes a bit when you try to bring up the settings, from what I understand, it’s because the Operating software has sooo many services running in the background that it causes the Operating system to run slow, Sony needs to have Android lower the services running in the background, I would disable a lot of them myself, but why should I have to do that, why can’t a TV that cost several thousand of Dollars be easy right out of the box?also the remote control that comes with this TV is terrible, you have to point the remote Literally directly at the TV for any of the functions to work.its super annoying.I also decided to play my Playstation 4 on this TV and play Call of Duty and I switched the TV to game mode and the Lag when I hit the trigger button is about a second delay, also the sound is delayed as well.I did upgrade the firmware on the TV the first day we received it and it did not make any difference. For the Price of this TV, I think I am gonna just buy the LG E7 OLED TV instead, I went to my local electronics store and played with the operating system and the LG has a more responsive Operating System and a Better Remote control where you don’t have to point the Remote directly at the center of the TV for it to respond.Note to Sony: fix the OS, Fix the Remote and improve the Picture quality for lower resolutions.
This thing is gorgeous. Coming from a 65” OLED I knew contrast ratio would suffer some, but the motion handling and video processing are excellent, and the FALD ability isn’t slack by any means. I had a 930C and it wasn’t enough for me, being sidelit, but this 940E is an excellent performer. If the 77” OLED and 75” ZD9 aren’t in the budget this a superb option. Compared to a 65” it doesn’t seem that large, but once you turn it on, the image has a WOW factor, especially at 9 feet away.HDR on Blu-ray and Netflix look great, you can tell it has no issue with light output, and the Sony’s X1 chip puts out an excellent image with less than 2160p feeds. I was surprised how good Directv looks blown up to 75”.
I could not ask for a better experience with my purchase of this 75 inch 4K HDR TV. The contrast and HD dynamics are really amazing! The picture color and clarity is well worth the money. I also purchased a Sony 4K HDR Blu-ray player, and the combined setup gives my movies the same amazing picture! The arranged delivery of my TV was very professional! It was made within 2 days, hooked up where I wanted and ready to watch within a very short time.
Great tv. If you want 75 inches in a semi reasonable price range this is the tv for you. I am not stating better then the LG OLED, but who cares. 10 inches is a really big difference even viewing from say 15 feet away. Set up really easy. Sony prompts you if you want to use your google app on your android phone, and the rest is history. I have not used the other apps. I have a Amazon Fire, and everything is going via my receiver. Read the reviews, and check out what people have stated in the AVS forum. My last TV was a 70 inch Vizio M updated to ultra. Watching the Yanks play the Rays on MSG via FIOS HD and it looks awesome.Just used the tvs Netflix app. Appeared quickly and responsively. Used the tv sound system Sounded very nice, but obviously not good as my sound system. Good luck on whatever you decide to buy.
Excellent!!! I have been a Samsung customer for years and decided to give Sony a try after a ton of research. I am so happy I did. This TV is fantastic! I’m not partial to any manufacturer but I honestly think Sony is back!!! The design and quality of this set is just awesome. I was hesitate at first with reviews about the motion but unless you are a hardcore videophile, this TV has been perfect and I am a very picky person(Engineer).
The excessive amount of burn-in evidence with the OLED technology (even Apple has admitted it’s a major problem) and the extra 10” of picture size, led me to this television. I could not be more satisfied with my purchase. This television is glorious!
It is an excellent television. I have no complaints.
Amazing picture quality.
