180 lbs @ 6’1” — small/medium fits perfect

This is the best life jacket I’ve ever owned. I served in the Army as a combat medic, so I’m accustomed to having lots of gear and tools on my chest for easy access, and that’s exactly what I wanted out of a life jacket that I intend to use for multi-day kayak-fishing trips. The pockets look bulky in the pictures, but they’re actually low profile. I have no problems at all casting with two hands to either side of me, or while working the line (as other reviewers have complained about), so I think it’s a question of getting the size that fits you and adjusting the straps properly. I’m 180 lbs at 6’1” and got the small/medium. This jacket has three straps on either side at various angles plus the two shoulder straps to adjust the fit on you (eight in total, if you weren’t counting), so if you’re used to adjusting body armor straps for the perfect fit, this life jacket will be very familiar and easy to set up. If the pockets are getting in your way, try lowering the shoulder straps and tightening the side straps that come up at a 45-degree angle to pull it in tighter around your chest without compromising breathing.Keep in mind this is a type III PFD, so it’s not the safest choice if you’re potentially going to be overboard for prolonged periods of time, or if you’re in situations where you could be knocked unconscious when you go overboard, since it’s not guaranteed or designed to keep your head above the water in all conditions.

You won’t believe this vest, it is so much comfortable than what I had before, pockets are really big. And it’s got lots of places to hang stuff in. first time I used a vest and don’t even notice. I fish from my kayak in Costa Rica so it pretty hot, and I don’t get hot with this thing. You’ll forget you have it on. A lot of adjustments to make it fit perfectly.

Good fishing vest that floats.

Finally got to use it yesterday. It fits fine. I didn’t get to use it for fishing yet, but I did wear it for a couple of hours of kayaking. I had easy arm and torso movement for paddling. It did tend to ride up a little higher than I like. I hope the many adjustments available with all those straps will help hold it down better. The handy shelf pockets were easy to open in the kayak and I look forward to making use of them soon for fishing. I* am pleased with my purchase.

Great Product

Because of the high backed seat on my new SOT fishing kayak, none of my other PFDs were at all comfortable. So, I tried this PFD. It takes a while to get used to this vest because of its bulk, but in a relatively short time, I could really begin to appreciate its advantages. The pockets, clips, and other “dodads” are actually pretty useful! But, the real test came when I hopped into the water to check out its primary function - flotation. It is by far the most stable PFD I have ever used. Great Product

Well Designed and Durable

This is the perfect fishing vest for kayaking, it is well made and designed and does a great job as a floatation device. I bought this for my sixteen-year-old Grandson because I knew that if he was going to have to wear something while fishing from his new kayak it would have to be something both functional and that would not hurt his manly self-image. He not only put this vest on, but he was proud to do so.

High-quality vest, but bulky.

I really like the vest, and there’s no doubt that it’s high-quality. I gave it 4 stars because, as some have mentioned, it is a bit bulky. The pockets are good but not very deep. The drop-down tray feature of the pockets is nice, but, again, you sacrifice storage space for the convenience. I wouldn’t recommend you NOT get it…I’d just recommend you try it on before you buy it, if possible.

Perfect for Kayak fishing.

This life vest has everything I needed for kayak fishing. It was higher in the back and fit quite comfortably in a kayak while allowing me full range of motion to paddle and fish. The small pockets on the front I sued for easy access to tools I regularly use when fishing. I haven’t tested its flotation ability but from how it feels it will work just fine.
