Good panel, works well, some design issues

Nicely made, quality panel. Flexible to some extent- it can be muted to a slightly curved surface or suspended easily from the grommets. The output cables are entirely too heavy for this to be considered a portable panel, the wire gage alone makes them inflexible and difficult to deal with. Also, the wiring connection is on the back of the panel for some reason, making mounting difficult and reducing flexibility. If the connection was smaller and located on the front or tabbed on an edge, mounting would be much easier and more practical. Be advised, this panel is a laminated polymer and when it heats up in the sunshine, it will EXPAND. If you have glued or screwed it to a flat or curved surface or frame, expect it to buckle or sag when it heats up. Some flexibility in mounting is required.

No charge for iphone! others is avialable.

I bought it a few days ago and tested it with some 5v USB devices. All works well, but except for iPhone. Only there is very strong sunshine, it can charge my iPhone 5s, but slow. This is the reason why I give 4 stars. But it really work very nice with my other devices, Samsung tablet, powerbank ect. I guess a 8 watt solar panel may work well with iPhone like other reviewer says. Like the light solar panel very much, I think I will buy a 8w solar panel for my iPhone in near future.

Perfect solar panel for backpacking

Perfect ultralight (about 4 ounces) solar panel for backpacking. The size allows it to easily be clipped on to the top of a backpack, and it will charge up a USB battery pack even in intermittent sun which can then be used to recharge anything else needed. Works best in full sun but not really needed if you don’t need too much power.

Light and powerful

Super lightweight, charges in very low and indirect light conditions. Combine this with a separate powerbank and you have a really good on the go charging solution. Good USB solar charger at a good price

Charges a Samsung Galaxy S5 or DeLorme InReach Explorer without any problems. With this charger lying horizontally in afternoon California sunshine, I estimate the charging current was 500 - 600 mA, given that it charged a 2800 mAh battery about 40% in 2 hours. The plastic substrate and grommets seem sturdy. If my review remains “5 stars”, then performance has remained flawless.Update: As of June 2016, this unit has been powering a DeLorme InReach continuously for 4.5 months, in an autonomous installation.

Nice solar panel. I think I would recommend this panel to a friend! I have used it to charge my phone, tablets, MP3 player, and power bank. All work fine. I also have a folding solar panel. But this one is lighter ,so easy to take. So Incredible, such a small cute panel can give me enough power to go through a long hiking…I must say it is worth of the price.

This is a great solar panel

This is a great solar panel. It is thin and very light which makes it easy to put in a backpack without making it heavy and bulky. I was impressed that it could charge my smartphone and a 2000mah battery that I have. I will be getting another panel for some other solar projects that I have in mind.

It looks in a very good quality solar panel. Charged by the sun directly. Power on the go. With the small suction cups, I use it on my car glass. And with the small carabiner, I can pin it to my backpack. Very nice design.

Very cheap quality. It ended up being a total waste. the 5v usb receptacle female plug was defective apparently.

Not as light as claimed. It weighed in just below 6oz, not the 4.5oz for you oz counters. Charges amazingly fast even directly to a new iPhone 6S which are notorious for not…

8W is 5W at best

Regarding the 8W panel, even if we assume this claim is accurate, the output is “5V/1A” which is 5W–not 8W.
