I purchased this tv on 15 May 2016. After mounting the tv, the top of the screen is actually separating from the frame. It looks like a white light streak across the top of the tv. I have noticed that others on amazon have commented and are in the same situation with the screen separation (read other reviews on this product on amazon). I contacted TCL support. I currently have a case #83602. They requested that I send photos of this problem. I emailed them today with 2 photos of the screen separating. For now, this is definitely a 1 star review. TCL has a serious issue with these televisions. They are well priced, but not a quality product. I was so looking forward to enjoying this tv. I will post back to amazon on the how TCL resolved this issue.Update 11 Aug 2016: A TCL rep called on 10 Aug 2016 to let me know that another TV was being shipped to my local area and that I would be contacted by ITI (a installation service) for an installation date. I upgraded the review to 3 stars. It looks like TCL does care about their customers and product. Although the tv frame is separating, it does have an outstanding picture. If the new tv frame holds up, I will change the review to 5 stars. Will post back to this review after the new tv is installed.Update 19 Aug 2016: A new replacement tv was delivered by a local tv shop. He took the old tv away in the same box the new one came in. The new TV is working great, no screen separation issues. It’s good to know that TCL will honor their warranty and stand behind their product.
Took a gamble on this as a pre-order from Amazon with no reviews when we pulled the trigger. On paper, it’s checks all of the boxes… 55”, 4K, Roku, and relatively cheap. We have a smaller non-4K TV from TCL that has worked very well, so extrapolating that experience gave us confidence.36 hours in, we are very pleased. I’ve included a couple things below that were concerns while ordering but have proven false.Picture quality? Very sharp, colors appear normal, and 4K content is beautiful. Baseball on mlb.tv is beautifully clear.Roku fast? I was worried that they might skimp on the roku processor or memory to result in slow menu changes and streaming issues. Not the case at all. It’s as fast or faster than our Roku 2.Motion blur with sports? None that I can see. They quote 120 refresh rate but I read that it’s actually 60 with some sort of up-conversion. Either way, there is no motion blur.TCL isn’t a name brand? We bought the Amazon warranty. Hopefully it lasts, but we have someone to call if it doesn’t.Bottom line: if you stream content and you’re not made of money, this is a good bet.
We own 3 roku TV’s by TCL and for a long time, they’ve been the only TV’s I’ve recommended. We pre-ordered this TV and have had at least one of these problems crop up daily:-Constant restarting of the TV on it’s own-TV freezes, remote won’t work, must unplug for a few moments to reset it.-Blotchy white backlight issues whenever there is darkness on the screen (blacks are not true blacks).-Audio/video cut out, lose sync and only solution is to wait it out or unplug TVThese are just some of the issues we’ve experienced. I really wanted to love this TV, but it’s become a pain to use. My other 2 1080p TCL Roku TV’s don’t have any of these issues. Th picture looks no different than my 1080p TV’s.
Wish there were more stars to give!! This quality of television for the price, plus a easily navigable source select, plus remote that is ridiculously easy to use. I liked mine so much that I gave one to my Auntie. When I showed her how to operate it she was flabbergasted with the ease. Picture is better than the price would warrant.
I’m actually very impressed that this tv is as great as it is. Crystal clear picture. Super fast. And because of the small frame it looks even bigger. I love it. I had a bunch of issues in getting a tcl tv from amazon delivery wise I’ve ordered 4 different ones (not 4k) and they kept going out of stock. And i recieved one that was broken. I finally just broke down and bought this one and I’m so glad I did. It arrived the day after it shipped and is awesome!!!!
I’m very pleased with this TV. The picture is fantastic.. sound is decent and could be ok without a sound bar if you’re not picky. The Roku interface is very easy to use and the response is instant. I like that I can use the phone app as well, which allows you to use a keyboard to enter text. After unboxing and setting this up, my brother-in-law and step brother also bought one.
Great picture and nice functionality. I don’t get much 4k content unfortunately, but it is a better than most 1080 TV’s I’ve owned. 1 star lost because it has had a number of hiccups. Had to pull the plug from the wall a few times when it decided it was’t going to work. On the bright side, it keeps fixing itself with a hard reset.
I’ve had the TV since November and it started doing a weird thing about 2 months in where half of the screen gets brighter before the other half. It’s pretty jarring when watching a movie, playing games, or watching tv. I’ve tried to live with it because the picture quality is great and I love the streaming features but it happens so often that I can’t enjoy anything I watch or play. I’m gonna ask for a refund and pay a bit more to get a TV from a name brand.
Very nice picture. This TV has Roku built in and tons of other features.
this tv is so damn good for the money. I absolutely love it.
Purchased my Roku TV in January. But recently started experiencing crashes while streaming videos through the Roku channels on the tv itself i.e. Netflix & YouTube.
What had drawn me to this unknown TV brand was the price for all of the features. This TV has performed flawlessly for 1 year and 2 weeks, in every respect a great product.
Ok I don’t write reviews right away because I like to use things for a long time at different levels. I hands down love this tv.
I have had this TV for less than a year, and now I have a red stripe running from top to bottom on the screen. I have reached out to the company, but have not been contacted.
The TV pops all time. makes a popping sound.
The TV arrived so damaged I could not get it out of the shipping box let alone the manufacturer’s box!
Great picture, decent sound
comments powered by DisqusI bought this as a game room tv. It got very little use less then 50 hours. Now over half the screen is full of vertical lines.
