I actually like the instructions

Okay, I actually like the instructions, build quality, etc. This thing worked just fine the second time out of the box. It failed me the first time because when I installed the drivers per the instructions, I accidentally forgot to run use sudo when running the installer… whoops! But, that does brick the device, and I had to re-install my drive from NOOBS (which is no big deal; it was a fresh install anyway). Booting to CLI, this gives a 60x40 console, and it’s refresh rate is a little slow, but hey, it’s perfect for my needs.The instructions were clear, concise, no problems. Here’s why I’m removing a star: WTF is with these .1” headers? They’re HUGE! I get that they’re probably designed for a raspberry pi, but for those of us who want something more compact (I’m using a Pi Zero W), this leaves a half inch gap between the LCD and the TOP of the components in a pi zero, and there’s really no good way to shorten the headers or put new headers on. (I’m an EE by day; so I have plenty of 0.1” headers laying around). So I’m having a hard time making this as compact as I’d like. Not all is lost though, I have ways of making things smaller™.Hardware: RPi Zero W, Bluetooth keyboard.

Disappointed

The screen works but it is not (as far as I could tell after putting the case together with no instructions) anchored well enough. Tried to take it out to see if I missed some anchoring plastic and ended up cracking the screen, making the pen inoperable. I’m not sure what you would use this case + screen for other than a hobby project which was treated very carefully.

quality looks good, boots up okay but had to use keyboard

Compact unit, quality looks good, boots up okay but had to use keyboard, touch screen did not respond when I touched the icons either with finger or stylus. The screen just highlights stylus or finger movement.

hard to setup, wasted all my time

doesn’t work at all get white screen downloaded their drivers didn’t work downloaded raspbain worked on normal monitor not on this please give more accurate instructions how to set up.

Great tech support!

So…. it kind of works….. The screen comes up after installing the drivers and I get the desktop. I follow the rest of the instructions in the teeny tiny print in the enclosed paperwork and reboot. When the reboot is finished I should have ‘a virtual keyboard icon in the top left corner’. What I have after the reboot is a desktop with only a Trash icon and no other buttons, menus, icons or anything, just the Trash.When I use the stylus, it works, I can make boxes that go away when I finish but I don’t think that’s what I wanted.Emailing support.UPDATE: I updated this to 4 stars because technically, the display and driver did work. After this I would recommend downloading the image file and not trying to follow the directions AFTER loading the driver on the included data sheet unless you know what they are trying to accomplish. I’m not a programmer, I just wanted a small touch screen for a project and I doubt its going to work out. The guys at tech support were very helpful and it really is a good product. Thank you Tech Support.

Great attempt, mediocre execution

Great attempt, mediocre execution. The touchscreen works fine. The case is exactly as pictured. Once you put your case together, you’ll notice that one part doesn’t seem to fit just right. If you look at the product picture, they left it out. You can too. It’s a support brace that isn’t cut to fit around the hardware on the back of the screen. However, the USB ports on the Pi itself give enough support. Additionally, the plastic the case is cut from is rather brittle and will crack easily if you tighten a screen too tight - be careful. However, for the price, it gets it’s alright. If they iterate on this product and make some small improvements, it’s could easily get 5 stars.

Not a complete waste of money…

The screen does as advertised, which is both good and bad. It’s as basic a display as any non-HDMI, unfortunately. Mind you, if you’re just messing around in Raspbian that’s all fine and dandy. If you’re trying to do a maker project like a RetroPie or RecalBox handheld, learning how and where to find compatibility drivers is an absolute pain in the butt. Realistically speaking, I’m more than likely just gonna sell it to make my money back and buy a better display. If you got $18 and you want a screen with a slow (at best) refresh rate that (in a positive twist) doesn’t overheat easily, this might be what you need. Or it might not. You have plenty of alternatives, so settling should be your last resort.
