I ordered the Vornado 133 fan, but when the Amazon box showed up I thought for sure it was way too small to have a fan inside. Surprisingly small, this fan is effective for a bedroom. I have two 24” box fans that move a lot of air, but they are so noisy I worry about what I may not be hearing when they are running (door bells, kids calling for me, etc). This Vornado truly is quiet, with two settings… quiet, and almost silent. It has 4 rubber feet that dampen sound further. It fits on my window sill no problem… my window sill measures 4 7⁄8” deep. The fan base itself measures 5 1⁄8” deep, but the rubber feet are only 4 1⁄2 deep, so the front lip of the base hangs past that with no problem. It’s main job is to move air, and it does that fine. I do not agree with the Vornado marketing illustration that it sends up a magic spiral tube of air to return at the base… it’s just a fan, and how it moves air depends on what windows and doors you happen to have open… but it is well made, attractive, and quiet, which is why I bought it… I just wasn’t sure if my definition of quiet was the same as other reviewers… but I doubt you will find a quieter fan. It is quiet for 3 reasons… it does not vibrate, the shape of these particular blades are quiet, and the rubber feet don’t transmit noise. There is no such thing as a silent fan, as rapidly moving air makes it’s own noise. In the end, you are paying more for quiet than as an air mover.
Whew, this fan puts out quite the power for such a tiny fan. I don’t find it overly loud like some of the other reviewers but I’m used to having a fan going pretty much all day both at work and at home. I’m planning on buying a second one of these to take into the office due to the powerful air it can produce. I know Vornado fans are a bit more expensive, but so far it has been very worth it. I’ve also got the large room scale version of a Vornado fan in another room which prompted me to buy this small desk one for my home office. Highly recommended.
Accidentally purchased a smaller model than intended due to the stock photo being of a different model, showing the dial being on the bottom of the back side (as is on the 530), but the 133’s is located on the center of the back. As it was intended to be used as a deck fan, I figured it should work just as well anyways. But upon testing it, I found the smaller size gives a very narrow airflow, with almost no power at all. Even at max you can barely feel it, and it is far more audible than a low setting with more airflow on a bigger unit. It’s not worth getting this small version.
I bought this fan to replace a broken one for my grandson’s bedroom. His room gets very warm at night and this fan provides the right amount of air circulation to help him sleep comfortably. The noise level is acceptable for the volume of air it circulates, and it does not interfere with his sleep.
I am a Caregiver for an 86 year old lady who has Alzheimer’s and temperature correlations don’t seem to reach her brain anymore -hot/cold, inside/outside, upstairs/downstairs or winter/summer. One day it was 90 degrees outside and because she was in the basement, where it’s cooler. She came upstairs to TURN ON THE HEAT! I was literally DYING. I would turn off the heat and turn on the AC and she would come back up and put the heat on, so - I bought this fan to save my life. :)It’s a great little fan for personal use! I sit it on the table 12 inches from me - on low and it’s just perfect. Plenty of air for me! The tilt on it didn’t work initially. It wouldn’t stay where I put, so I just tightened the little screws on the pivot and that fixed it. We had a larger Vornado for years until my son broke it. They are made very well. They are getting a LOT more expensive though from when I bought the larger one many, many years ago. $30 for this little fan is a lot, but it works and I NEEDED it. If you need a “personal” fan, I highly recommend this one.
As someone who has owned four different models of Vornado fans, I have generally been pleased with their quality. This is a solid, quiet compact fan. My only real complaint is that could use a more powerful motor. Compact high-powered blowers can be ten times the price of this fan, which wouldn’t be justified for most consumers. It would be nice to have an eight to ten inch fan with three times the power and twice the price of this fan.Depending on the application, I have found high performance, small-diameter DC radiator fans a better solution. They do produce quite a bit of noise and require a sufficiently powerful DC power supply that the average consumer might not own.
This fan is great if you have a SMALL room as the item’s title indicates. This fan works in my bathroom to keep it cool after getting out of the shower. I also have a larger Vornado to keep me cool when I’m in larger rooms of the house. I highly recommend the Vornado fan. I’ve purchased two others that are not Vornado and they don’t circulate the air like the Vornado does.
I’ve purchased three of the slightly larger cousins of this fan over the past few years two of which lasted for about 3 years then the motors seized up. I’d originally purchased the larger ones to circulate air in an apartment that does not have air conditioning. It turns out that I didn’t need that much power in my living room (I kept the fan on low or medium) so, when that fan died a couple of days ago I decided to go with the less expensive model. It is about $20 cheaper and the trade-off is that it definitely does push air around the way the others did. but it works okay. Hoping that it will last at least as long as it’s more formidable cousins.
These are powerful, especially for their size. We bought two and they have worked perfectly and we run them every day.
Silent, and good quality. For this price point, however, I would have expected 2 things:1) At least one more speed, and2) The position of the speed control (at the…
This item quit working with minimal use.Underpowered motor. Died with less than 100days of intermittent use.
Pretty disappointed. It quit working after about a year, compared to a $9 fan we have from Walmart that is going on about 8 years, including one stretch of being on 24-7 for at…
Great little fan. My dogs love sitting in front of it at night.
It’s the perfect size for my bathroom, provides good cooling.
A lot weaker than I expect from this company.
This little fan is great for use under my desk to keep me cool at work. The air tunnel is very “compact” so it doesn’t disrupt nearby papers.
It’s a personal fan. Two speeds: low and high. Bought to quickly make a redneck air conditioner. The high speed is ok. Not wow as advertised.
