Every Bit as Good as the Original

To anyone who has a slavish devotion to camera accessories made only by the manufacturer of their particular brand of camera I say, “Wise up, Pal! Do you think Panasonic (in this case) or Canon or Nikon actually makes the batteries with their brand name on them? No way, Man. These guys are not in the battery business. So why pay their outrageous prices when you can get the same or better battery for chump change.Are there bad batteries out there in no-name land that you might get stuck with if you “stray from the path” and choose to buy one that doesn’t have your camera brand on it? Sure there are. That’s always a risk – but you can minimize it here on Amazon by reading the reviews.So here’s what you wanted from this review: Wasabi brand batteries are GREAT! We buy them for our knock around Panasonic cameras and for the big Canon DSLRs that we earn our living with. They always have as much or more power storage capacity as our camera-branded originals, they read out correctly on the camera’s “fuel gauge” which some generic brands do not do, we’ve never worn one out and they don’t cost an arm and a leg.So, do your homework and then do your share to reduce the market price level of every type of product by buying from the most efficient producer that delivers true quality for less. You’ll raise your standard of living … and everyone else’s, too.

Extra batteries for the Panasonic ZS40K

I purchased this unit and batteries because the camera does not come with an external battery charger and at the time additional Panasonic batteries wee not available. It worked well to charge both the Panasonic and Wasabi batteries. The batteries worked well and they lasted almost as long as the original Panasonic battery and were much less expensive! The addition of an euopean adapter was also useful on my recent trip.

Good alternative to OEM battery.

I ordered a genuine Lumix DMW-BCM13 camera battery for a Lumix DMC-ZS30 camera several months ago from another vendor. I waited and waited and waited for the back-ordered product to no avail. I finally gave up and ordered the Wasabi batteries and charger for a little more than half the cost of just one OEM battery. I’m glad I did. They work just as well as the original battery and the plug-in charger is more convenient than charging the battery in the camera. If you’re going out for a full day of shooting with the ZS30 and you plan to use the GPS you’ll need a couple of spare batteries so this is the ideal solution.

On a test right out of the box on my Lumix ts5 these fully charged batteries recorded the exact same length of video as the brand new battery that came with the camera. The charger is more travel friendly than Lumix’s (no extra cord to lug around) and having the extra power for long day trips came in handy. Highly recommend.

Batteries appears to be good, except plastic cases to protect the batteries are missing.

Shipping was a little slow (order placed on May 9, a Saturday, but shipping did not take place until May 12, Tuesday). Quality appears to be consistent with other Wasabi brand batteries, except that they no longer provide the plastic casing to protect the battery. It’s a pity that they did not choose to keep their good tradition, but instead opted to save one dollar or so to bypass the important protection. This is obviously a lack of consideration for the user, and for their product. When you have back-up batteries, they need to stay inside the cases to avoid contact of electronic components..I tested the Wasabi batteries with my new Lumix DMC-ZS40 camera. (1) the Wasabi charger can charge its own batteries, as well as the original battery that came with the camera; (2) the Wasabi batteries fit into the ZS-40 camera, and battery status will show on the camera, and can be charged while inside the camera, using the original Panasonic USB charge cable.The Wasabi batteries I bought for ZS-19 years ago still work today. They came with plastic housing, and this is what is missing with these new batteries for ZS-40. What a shame!

Reasonable back up

Charger works fine, the life of the charges on these batteries are not near as long as the battery that ships with the camera. But between the original battery and these I was good for a whole day of sightseeing taking beaucoup of pictures without the worry of no battery juice.

Cost effevtive

These batteries charge well, hold their charge, and with the charger much cheaper than the camera manufacturer wants.

Great for my camera. But just remember if you’re leaving your camera not in use for sometime. Use the original battery, not this one because original won’t get stuck.
