protects amplifier from power surges caused by lightning strike to outside antenna
Wilson Lightning Surge Protector Kit for 75 ohm amplifiers. This connects the amplifier to the surge protector (as it can not connect directly it needs a 2 foot cable)
This is SOME PIECE of METALWORK! The protector is heavy weight and probably heavy-duty. Machining and finish are excellent. I do wish that the tiny screw and small washer that secure the ground wire were LARGER since I tend to be fumble-fingered. The screw is too short to leave in the protector while trying to hook the ground wire around it…and so it and the washer parted company, with the screw finding a swell place to hide.I look upon this as a form of insurance: my WeBoost antenna and amplifier cost over $400. so this $70 protection is perhaps worth it. I cannot find that grounding the system has improved my reception.
This was easy enough to install, though I had to chop down the grounding wire I purchased separately for attaching to this to earth. My antenna rig has yet to be hit by lightening, so I can’t vouch for its effectiveness, but it certainly looks like it will work as advertised.
well I will recommend this because it is a must have if you have a lot of lightning just a little to expensive I cant tell how it works until lightning hits it but hopefully never happens because I would hate to see the price of the fuse
This thing was very difficult to get the cable into - it had to be forced - which was very unnerving.
