I love Yamaha receivers but this one needs work. I purchased it as an Atmos 5.1.2 system. Clearly Atmos was an afterthought and is not well supported on this receiver. It calls the ceiling speakers “Presents” speakers. Unlike other Yamaha receivers I own It doesn’t display what format is is decoding so you cant tell if you have Dolby Pro Logic or Atmos. Very disappointing for Yamaha. It does pass 4K with no problems.
The receiver was easy to setup. Super happy with the sound and the bass is fantastic. Clear instructions on setup to include Spotify and Sirius. Highly Recommend!
Awesome. Use this with BR-15s. Awesome.
Works flawlessly. Does not shut off due to heating up like RX2700 Model Yamaha did.
so far, so good
Bought this to replace another Yamaha receiver I’ve had for about 15 years. It’s excellent. Very easy to set up, but has functions that are best used by younger people familiar with all the new technology. I use this receiver at only about 50% of its real capacity but - after having Yamaha receivers since the early ‘80s, I can’t see ‘fixing what ain’t broke’, IYGMD.. My ONLY (very small) beef is that the owner’s manual comes on a DVD and, unless one wants to print out about 180+ pages, it’s kind of a pain to have to go to the PC and read the manual. A full printed version should be with the unit. Other than that, I love this receiver!
I just replaced a Yamaha receiver with this new one. The one I previously had was 12 years old and set up for THX surround which doesn’t seem to be used much anymore. This new Yamaha RX-V683BL really rocks. I love the fact that it can be set up via an Android app on my phone. It has really clean sound. I only have one complaint: for whatever reason, they didn’t put a switched outlet on the back. On all my previous receivers, htey had one. Now, I have to have my sub-woofer on at all times which I don’t like to do. Other than that, this receiver is great.
Fantastic. Upgraded from RX-V673 as I suspect the HDMI circuit board failed. This receiver paired with my LG 65” OLED 4K Ultra TV and my Samsung 4K Ultra Blu-Ray plyer is sick. Buy good HDMI 2.0 cables and update firmware on all components. The sound difference is dramatic.
The manual states the clearance must be 20-30 cm for the unit. That’s approximately 8 to 12 INCHES for potential non-metric customers. This seems excessive.
This receiver replaced my Onkyo 80w. I have it connected to Polk LSi7s, Polk S35 center, and Polk 12” subwoofer.
If this is installed in a cabinet, it WILL overheat and shutoff! I bought an AC Infinity AIRCOM T9 and the issue is solved.Great sound.
Replaced an RX-v2500 with this unit, and exceeded my expectations. Great new features and performs flawlessly, and great price.
