MusicCast wireless multiroom audio system
Experience surround sound realism from a slim sound bar with dual, built-in subwoofers. The Music Cast sound bar enhances any TV watching experience and can also provide wireless multi room audio playback using your existing Wi-Fi network by adding other Music Cast speakers, sound bars or AV receivers in other rooms.
Reviews in Cruthcfield and Amazon held promise, but after suffering through 6+ months of connectivity and sync issues I almost gave up. Latest issue was a loss of sync between speech and audio. Once again I had to go into the AV Sync set-up by changing to the HDMI 3 input in the middle of a program, found and selected the “lip-sync” setting and returned to the program on HDMI 1. The sound quality is “good,” but nowhere near what I expected from Yahama, especially at this price. There has never been real clarity in the treble range. And while this can be somewhat compensated by the “Clear Voice” setting, there is still a lack of clarity…we’ve resorted to using our LG flat screen’s speakers when watching TV programs. When we want to watch something with the sound cranked up the YSP1600 performs its best. But, earsplitting is not the mode desired most of the time.Connectivity has been at issue, as well. Control (I-Tunes) from my computer works well, but whenever we opt to use MusicCast iPhone app for control we suffer from drop-off and, yes, I’ve had the wireless checked and even switched the YSP to the same wireless network and still had issues. It seems that Yahama made this unit for tech-savvy customers with a lot of patience and time to make adjustments for every different mode of operation when simple would have been preferred. We use the YSP in link with a WX-010 speaker which always works well, syncs easily and does not suffer from all the quirks of the YSP1600. A friend has a SONOS soundbar that seems to work flawlessly in a similar network environment. But, I’ve invested far too much to go back now.
sounds great! The musiccast app could use some work, it took me 20 minutes to get my soundbar connected to my wifi. I just kept trying and eventually it worked. Bit of a pain, but that’s not the products fault.
Fanatasitc. While not a fill speaker setup with an AVR this gives very good sound and looke nice for the main room. Surround effects for me are good. I have an extra subwoofer hooked up, but the woofer included works great (i happened to have the other one so thought i would use
MusicCast over Bluetooth is spotty. Overall great sound. But if you are buying for MusicCast to work with other Yamaha MusicCast devices over Bluetooth then you are going to be disappointed. MusicCast with AirPlay does not work. However you can use use your AppleTV as an input device, AirPlay form your phone to your AppleTV and then you can use MusicCast to connect the Yamaha devices.
I ordered this Yamaha sound bar about a week ago and it arrived on Tuesday. At first I was skeptical because of the review from CNET, but that all changed once I hooked it up. The sound is very clear, crisp, and has surprisingly well bass considering there is no additional subwoofer. It is super loud and still sounds great at full volume! Unlike the Yamaha YAS-203, this speaker looks very sleek and looks even better under your tv. I highly recommend this speaker to anyone who is looking for a sound bar that provides sound as good as giant surround sound speakers.
Had this for just a couple of days now and love it. Hooked it up to the rest of my Yamaha family utilizing the music cast and it is simpler and cleaner than Sonos. Well done Yamaha. I had been a long time pioneer receiver and JBL speaker buff but the sound quality from this sound bar and the ability to utilize musiccast (again Yamaha well done) has made this speaker well worth the investment. The only negative is the remote control. It’s a bit small and hard to hold navigate as it seems cluttered. It is still a great soundbar.
Thin sounding with music playback. Produces entertaining soundstage for movies. Connectivity and Internet radio options are excellent. Add a subwoofer if you want to enjoy music.
The bar is doing what I asked of it, but can’t help but wish I could feel a bit more power from it. Still, I am satisfied.
Probably the wrt
I bought a YSP-1600 in Europe (240V) mainly because of space constraints, simplicity of connection via ARC and because of Airplay.
I purchased the Yamaha YSP-1600 1 year ago. At first I thought it sounded great especially with my subwoofer connected to it.
Good soundbar. Not 7.1 but it is good for a soundbar. I like that I can control the bass/subwoofer I added with the remote. klipsch sw-450
Quality Product. Sound is terrific!
TV sound quality was sub standard. Music cast would synch the TV input across other speakers without horrible latency. My Vizio 2.1 sound bar was far superior for TV sound.
Long story short…. This sound bar has a major limitation. Although it has a sub out port, even with the sub gain set to max, it trims the ouput level to the external sub which…
