Loose UV filter lens can be remedied easily

Why bother if this product is defective? Because it is worth your while to make the UV filter stay put. A reviewer has already noted an inexplicable flaw. The UV filter in a custom, non-threaded Yi-specific mounting ring, will fall off when you tip the camera because it is a slip fit too loose to stay on. My example would fall off, too. Let’s presume they are all this way.Knowing to expect the loose filter, I bought this case anyway because I knew I could make a simple work-around to tighten the filter lens ring: I would apply three tiny smeared drops of 5 Second Fix Liquid Plastic Welding Kit - Fix, Repair and Seal Anything in 5 Seconds. I performed the modification and in result the filter mounting works fine now. Simple though the fix is, we have to wonder, why didn’t Yi make the fit correct in the first place?Now the UV filter stays put until deliberately twisted as it is pulled off. It stays on in my cargo pants pocket, nor can it fall off by accident or vibration. The picture shows a flattened dot of the cured resin I applied. There are three of these dots equidistant along the inside diameter to make the secure fit, secure in a degree it should have been from the factory, but was not. Please clean the anodized aluminum ring with isopropyl alcohol to ensure a decent bond of the resin, which may be applied with the tip of a toothpick. If the resin ever flakes off it can be redone in a few moments.All else is pretty good! This case gives grip and it gives substantial protection and it looks great! The leatherette is handcrafted with evident care (these things cannot be cheap to make). The cutouts for the mic and tripod mounting socket are not precisely centered, but they are still perfectly functional, their possibly slightly imperfect placement in my sample (see photo) being an artifact of the hand crafting.The back has a big rectangular cutout – and contrary to the illustration, no membrane (good!). The ¹⁄₁₆” thickness of the case rear border provides protection to the Gorilla glass screen screen against scratches it might otherwise pick up were the camera to be put on its back on a gritty surface.Traditional cameras came in leather or artificial leather for the improved tactile grip the slightly textured, soft covering provides. Yi Action Cameras, being mostly hard plastic, are easy to fumble and drop unless in a tactile encasement of some sort. Don’t want the leather look or need the lens-protective and UV filter? Then consider the Deyard Y-04 Silicone Rubber Protective Housing Case + Lens Cap Cover for Xiaomi 4K/4K+/Yi Lite Action Camera - 2 Pieces (Black and White), a cheap and perfectly fitting protective solution.The Yi slips into the flock-lined leatherette case snugly and in my example, it is not difficult to remove: flip the magnetic clasp front open and push from the screen side until grip can be gotten on the protruding camera.If Yi will in the next importation engineer a reliable push-on filter ring fit and offer a lens cap (I sure need one), this case would rate 5 stars. As it is, it is a good looking and good feeling alternative for those who don’t need a hermetic case, and who want a classic camera feel, appearance and grip.I like this case and will be using it daily for its drop protection, great looks, improved grip and the pleasant tactile quality and because the filter that now pushes on and stays on, is useful for better images and protection of the camera lens.

Good, not great

Not bad, but not great. The fit is snug and I feel like I’m going to break my camera taking it in and it to change the battery. Give me access to the battery without taking the case off and it’s 4-5 stars

Not for me

It’s fine for some people I’m sure….just don’t like it myself. Too cumbersome and overkill for me. I need to easily access the battery compartment and other parts of the camera

Low quality and removing UV filter almost impossible!!!

UV lens does not stay on YI 4K+.

 UV lens does not stay on YI 4K+.The case fits the 4K+, but the UV lens falls right off. There is no locking mechanism.Update: Contacted support, and they sent another lens. New lens has the same problem. Was told there may be an irregularity with my yi 4k+ (which I also purchased from amazon). Was offered a refund. Multiple emails were sent out and they always got back within a day.
