Product Reviews

Plain, simple and works great!

My wife and I like to freedive as well as snorkel and we’ve read in a few places that snorkel flexibility is a nice feature. Neither of us could really figure out why, but at under $15 this seemed to be a good way to test it. It’s hard to describe. Perhaps it creates less drag as the dive happens or perhaps it’s because this model doesn’t have extra purge valves and splash guards that create turbulence. Either way, the Cressi Gringo was a nice change from what we had been using. As the other reviews state, the lack of those extra features also means that there’s less to break or fail. This snorkel just works. If I had to comment on the negatives it would be that it could have been 1 inch longer and the loop that attaches it to a mask could have been easier to set. It wasn’t so much a problem for my wife because she just took it off and replaced it with one made of neoprene that she got for her long hair, but it was quite a pain for me to get back on one I had threaded the band to my mask through.Despite those two things, you just can’t go wrong for something like this that works and is available at a great price.

I love the Cressi Gringo Snorkel

If your looking for a simple economic snorkel that will last a life time, you found it!I love the Cressi Gringo Snorkel. It does not have any valves or other systems for beginning or inexperienced divers. When free diving and submerging this snorkel does not create positive buoyancy, helping you submerge with ease underwater.

Durable Snorkel

Although this was a decent snorkel for a beginner, it was a little too short for my needs. I purchased it for spearfishing, but ended up borrowing a friend’s snorkel after a few hours because I kept getting water in mine. It is made of good quality materials and I would recommend it for basic snorkeling, but if you are doing anything more than that, consider getting one with the attachment on top to prevent water from leaking in.

Great with one caveat…

This is a nice, light snorkel that has a smaller sized mouthpiece than other adult models I’ve looked at. It is comfortable to use. It does not, however, come with a sliding elastic clip to attach to your mask as the description states. What you see is what you get. You have to either tether it to your mask or goggles with the headband on your mask or goggles or provide your own tether to hook them together and keep the snorkel upright. After experimenting a bit I found that I could simply run the headband (which is very thin) from my prescription goggles through the elongated loop on the snorkel. Wider bands could be problematic. Otherwise this is a good product and a good value.

Still better than their “dry” snorkels

It actually lets you breath and makes the biggest difference from their “dry” snorkels. However the mouthpiece folds in on itself , so breathing through it… could be easier and more open, but isn’t the worst thing, still lets you breath better than their more expensive models. In conclusion: if you want a decent snorkel that’s simple and lets you breath well while moving around in the water. Basically a plastic tube to breathe through. If that’s all you want it’s great!

Junk Snorkel

I bought this to replace an old DACOR ‘J-type’ snorkel. While it looked like it was just what I wanted, I was very disappointed to find that the mouthpiece portion is very flimsy rubber and during normal use the rubber collapses and restricts airflow. The only way to salvage would be to insert a short piece of poly tube inside to prevent the collapsing.

Great product.

Great product. Not one of those high tech snorkels that keeps the water out, it’s just a very well built old school snorkel.

simple

I used this in Cozumel for snorkeling. Easy to pack and carry. Don’t have to worry about all the bells and whistles of the complex snorkels.

great basic snorkel

great basic snorkel. I hate that new fancy stuff. simple is better.def expected quality. mouth piece is holding up very nicely not getting chewed up at all after a good 40…

Horrible plastic smell!!

Perfect for freediving. Very simple and comfortable to use.

it would be perfect. Because of its shortness

If it were just one or two inches longer, it would be perfect. Because of its shortness, it seems to take on water more frequently than other snorkels I’ve used.
