I got this for my 8 year old son to start learning guitar. My wife is a music teacher and also teaches piano and flute at a music store and he sometimes gets stuck waiting for her in the store. He expressed interest in learning guitar after seeing other kids taking guitar classes there. Since he is already there every week and wanted to learn, we decided on a low cost guitar to start with in case he didn’t like it after trying to learn.First I want to say, this guitar may be low cost but it is much more than I was expecting. I currently own 4 guitars from a 1600 dollar Taylor acoustic electric to a vintage TS-500 Aria Pro II. I am quite knowledgeable about guitars and as an avionics electrician know a little about electronics too. This guitar is obviously a low cost guitar made for kids, but if you close your eyes and listen it is quite surprising. It tunes up quite nicely and will hold tune if you give the included strings a slight stretch then retune. There is a spare set of strings too. The strings are metal but push to the fret board as soft as any nylon set you ever tried. Perfect for a beginner. The look is very nice. The single pickup has a very long sustain like a hot humbucker. Unbelievable for a 65 dollar kid’s guitar! There are plenty of accessories. First 2 pickups, spare strings, a patch cord, strap, amp, and carrying case. The only thing it doesn’t come with is the 9V battery or a 9V power supply for the amplifier. The amplifier is very small. It appears larger in the photo than it actually is. It has a belt clip on the back. It isn’t going to blow the windows out but plenty loud for practicing and has a headphone jack to use regular headphones. It has your typical volume and tone controls and a button called “drive”. The “drive” button gives a huge boost to the volume, adds some nice distortion and slight overdrive. Good for doing some metal head stuff, haha.If I have to name cons, the biggest would be the carrying case. It is not going to do much to protect this guitar, especially when a child is carrying the guitar. To stay at this price point, obviously can’t expect a hard case or anything though.Overall, very very satisfied and hope my son decides to stick with it. So far, he is enjoying learning.
The guitar sounds not too bad and the amp is decent for it’s purpose, however, upon receiving it, the tuners would not hold a tune, so I had to order new ones and replace them. The guitar also required A LOT of set-up. I had to re-cut the nut, adjust the intonation, adjust the truss rod, and still it’s not even close to how it should be. My kid likes to play with it, but I feel bad for kids who are getting this and thinking it’s a serious instrument to learn on. Had I been given this guitar when I was a kid I probably wouldn’t have ever learned to play. It’s just so frustrating trying to make it sound right. In hindsight, I should have gone for the Squire Mini Bullet.
Gift for 7 year old grandson - he wanted to play this immediately! Super deal for all that’s included!
You get what you pay for. Got for my 3 year old and he loves it, good size, sounds fine (I’m not a musician) but the metal frets extend past the neck, and they’re filed at a shark angle. So they stick out as little knives. At only 3, my son hasn’t figured out correctly playing cords so he just moved his fingers up and down and it killed his hands. I put super clue on the ends and it’s playable now. I’d look elsewhere for a guitar
Great sound and good quality! Love it!
my grandson love it.
If you consider it a cheap Chinese toy you won’t be disappointed!
GREAT LITTLE GUITAR FOR MY 5 YEAR OLD
The amp does not work. We are working on returning.
Best Package deal ever! Love It!
perfect for my 5 yr old granddaughter, has everything, and she loves it!
I bought this for my daughter because she took interest in my guitars. This thing is not playable as an instrument. The intonation is way off.
Perfect starter set for a young kid. My only issue was a few frets were high and low. I use to repair guitars so I dressed the frets and set string height.
We bought this for my 4 year old for his birthday. He loves it. One of the strings did bust as I tuned it and punctured pretty deep into my hand so, tune with care.
Amp is awesome (for the small size) and the guitar is a perfect size for a child, BUT the strings are so cheap that two of them broke within hours of use.
